    fuse questions

i have a blown fuse here from a phillips tv a client brought in to fix. its the cylindrical, ceramic type...the smaller one u see in atx power supplies a lot.

it has a little logo on it that looks like LF but the F is inside the L
and then it says right after the logo:
    T8AH250VP

i know that this is an 8 amp, 250 volt fuse based on the markings.

but what does the lf mean? is it just a logo?
    what does the H mean
and what does the P mean?

and how do i know if this is a slow blow or fast blow? are all ceramics slow blow?
are there different grades of "slow" and "fast" ?

    just some general fuse questions.

cant figure out how to word this stuff right to get a good answer on the google, figured someone in here knows better

    please, and thank you!
    Don't fear the repair...

    Re: fuse questions

LF= Little fuse, the company name.
    T = Time delayed/SLO-BLO
    8 Amps
    250V.
    5x20mm ?? fuse, CERAMIC.

        Re: fuse questions

Little spec sheet does not give the details on the numbering code as printed on the fuse.
P is more likely for LEAD free.
H is for high interrupt breaking capacity, hence CERAMIC body.
Did you verify that it is 5x20mm dimension?

          Re: fuse questions

yea thats what it is. so probably the replacement fuse is fine... but something else went wrong. im going to start a thread for this phillips tv now since replacing the fuse didnt solve it..and the setup in this tv is really strange

            Bestec ATX0300F5WA - fast,or slow blow, fuse?
            by socketa
I bought a dead motherboard, and connected it to this PSU,
Was checking the standby voltages on the motherboard, and, whilst doing so, the PSU made a loud bang with a flash of light.
So now i truly got a bang for my bucks, and something else to try and fix.
The fuse was blowen, and the top was blowen off of a TNY276PN chip
The glass fuse didn't have any marking to say if it was fast or slow blow
So i checked the marking on the PCB thinking that that would tell me,
but it 's got a T/F8A printed on the board
So should i get a fast blow fuse, or should...

Sony kd70xf8305 very very slow android logo with sound
            by reassor
            Hi.
            Power is ok
Tv turns on by it self when you turn IT off with button or pług.it shows sony logo the android logo but with like 1 frame every 10 sec. Music starts after like 1 min. After some time logo will Just hang. But i can turn volume up and down on a pilote but its very slow as well.

Should i force update? If so how?

            I did reset.

            Mainboard Looks pristine.

            Very wierd.

Macbook Air 2015 Booting Very Slow and Stuck on apple Logo 99%

Hi guys i have my personal MacBook Pro 2015 820-00165 board that was working fine for more than a year and one day stopped working on my original Magsafe charger. It was turning on with my bench power supply. Opened it up and while diagnosing that somehow i ended up with a shorted smc.The line which was shorted was SMC_PM_G2_EN. I removed the SMC and short was gone. So all I had was another working donor board 820-3435 which i used to program it's SMC to 820-00165 using the SMCTOOL By MuertoGB.Took that SMC and use it on my 820-00165 board .And my board started working again. A funny fuse story – Lumix LX100 II
            by corrize
Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
            The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...

bad cap cause fuse to blow?
            by paulmars
microwave oven Fuse blew, replacement blew too after 1\2 second.

Following common resistance test procedures found on the web the magnetron and transformer are fine.

The big capacitor tests open. The diode attached to it reads mostly open in one direction, although sometimes my dvm will jump down to several meg ohms for a fraction of a second. Testing in other directions reads a constantly changing value of 5xxMeg to 8xxMeg.

Would these cause the fuse to blow?

            Tks,
            Paul
