bad cap cause fuse to blow?

microwave oven Fuse blew, replacement blew too after 1\2 second.

Following common resistance test procedures found on the web the magnetron and transformer are fine.

The big capacitor tests open. The diode attached to it reads mostly open in one direction, although sometimes my dvm will jump down to several meg ohms for a fraction of a second. Testing in other directions reads a constantly changing value of 5xxMeg to 8xxMeg.

Would these cause the fuse to blow?

In most cases when the fuse blows it is caused by a defective door switch. The primary interlock door switches is likely bad (stays closed) and when the interlock monitor switch closes it blows the fuse.
The primary switch should open when the door is open, and if this switch is shorted, when the door is opened the monitor switch shorts across the ac line to prevent the oven from operating with the door open.

switches tested ok. cap and diode test bad.

You wont be able to check the diode with a regular multimeter unless the diode is dead short. it is a high voltage diode, it has several diode junctions stacked in series internally, the capacitor will check open, it is only a few microfarad, you would need a capacitor checker to test its value.
If you believe the problem is with the high voltage components, disconnect the high voltage transformer primary and see if the oven still blows the fuse.

you probably cant test the cap - many have a parallel discharge resister in them

Capacitor meter reads down to 0.1ufd and reads this cap at ol.

Unplugged transformer primary and microwave runs and fuse dont blow.

Ok, then it is a fault in the high voltage section, I mentioned the switches because it is a common problem with microwave ovens.

Re: bad cap cause fuse to blow?

The microwave oven capacitor can go low value or open-circuit (blown pressure switch), either gives no/weak cooking.
The capacitor can also have a ground fault. If if arcs internally to the can that would blow the fuse. Check resistance to the can.
The diode doesn't test shorted, RG308/HV6X2PI "bi-directional diode protection" seems a little weird, shown as two back-back diodes inside, one 6kv other is 1.7kV. I think it's got a HV zener.

That leaves the magnetron. Do an inspection see if it is arcing or cracked.

                  Bestec ATX0300F5WA - fast,or slow blow, fuse?
                  by socketa
I bought a dead motherboard, and connected it to this PSU,
Was checking the standby voltages on the motherboard, and, whilst doing so, the PSU made a loud bang with a flash of light.
So now i truly got a bang for my bucks, and something else to try and fix.
The fuse was blowen, and the top was blowen off of a TNY276PN chip
The glass fuse didn't have any marking to say if it was fast or slow blow
So i checked the marking on the PCB thinking that that would tell me,
but it 's got a T/F8A printed on the board
So should i get a fast blow fuse, or should...

A funny fuse story – Lumix LX100 II
                  by corrize
Hello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
                  The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping...

Lift Master garage door opener with WiFi capability application through your phone
                  by sam_sam_sam
I had a lot of trouble with the WiFi connection from my router inside of the house into a ( new ) metal garage I had to run a 150 ft cat6 patch cord so the WIFI connection would be strong enough for the WiFi connection on the garage door opener would work correctly ( my son has a work out area in the garage as well and he was having to put his phone near the door to be able to stream music ) ( so I was going to eventually put WiFi out there anyway )

This garage door opener WiFi is very touchy if you lose the power it does not remember the password for the router which is weird or...

Samsung UE46ES8000 Blown fuse but no other signs of short
                  by jesterace
Hi I wonder if anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I have this Samsung UE46ES8000 TV and it went bang during use. The main fuse on the PSU board is open. I've checked every diode/mosfet/transistor I can see and nothing appears to be short to cause the fuse to go. The DC output of the bridge rectifier is not short either. I've seen online that some of these models are known for having their PFC mosfet or other mosfets shorting and blowing the fuse but i'm not seeing that here. If anyone aware of these models having any issues to cause this? I'm reluctant to just replace the...

Help replacing fuse on my Mimaki CJV300-160 vinyl printer
                  by jshhh
                  Hi guys,

I'm inexperienced with electronics repairs, I've done a little bit of soldering caps and whatnot, but i have a blown fuse on this mimaki printer I got which I have bought a replacement for.

How do I remove this type of fuse (see picture)...it kinda looks like it would pull out of that bracket but it didn't come at first pull and I didn't want to brute force it incase it's soldered on there like most of the rest of the components.

Anybody know how to remove this type of fuse?

(The fuse is toward the bottom of the image labeled F2)...
