Hello, I'm having an issue determining the value for a 5-band resistor on my LG 42PJ350-ub power supply. The bands in order are: Orange, Blue, Silver, Gold, Black. Tested out of circuit returned .6 ohms. To my knowledge this color combination should not be valid; and I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than myself may be able to decipher this code.

Re: TV resistor not making any sense
What resistance do you get when you touch your meter probes together? about 0.3 Ohms, then that is correct 0.36 Ohms + 0.3 Ohms for the meter lead. This resistor when it failed, it will usually go open circuit.Never stop learning

is looks more like inductor to me http://cdn.instructables.com/FRQ/J6V...NQFK.LARGE.gifComment

Re: TV resistor not making any sense
It's a 0.36 5% wirewound-resistor.
The marking color "BLACK" means manufacture's series .
Some for Nonflame type with BLACK marking ; or
non inductive wire wound resistors(無感繞線電阻) ---> GREEN
inductive wire wound resistors(有感繞線電阻) ----> BLACKAttached FilesLast edited by Duncanbest; 12-04-2013, 09:57 AM.Comment

Re: TV resistor not making any sense
This resistor is probably for the Source pin of the MOSFET or fusible resistor for the B+.Never stop learning

Hi.
Quick question.
I have a laptop that is completely dead. I opened it up and it looks like the current sense resistor is blown. However, because it's blown, the value printed on the top has disintegrated and there is no schematic available for this particular laptop (Dynabook Portege) so I'm not sure what to replace it with. -
by jinu_jHi
I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.
1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...-

by mikey5791Hi to all forum members,
Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.
Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor... -
by ResoluteHawkHello;
I have an ASUS G14 GA401QM that currently has no 5v rail among other things stated below in points #3 and #4. I'd like to see if it's condition can be improved.
1) Originally this laptop had a problem with a shorted main power rail, so measuring at the current sense resistor after the DC IN FETs yielded a very low resistance. Before proceeding further I measured the CPU coils. We get 8.2 Ohms on the farthest right coil (PL8105) and 3.3 Ohms on the four to left left of it (PL8101 through PL8104). When I injected 1v into the current sense resistor, PQH9402 got warm.... -
by artvandalaiThe resistor on this waterpik blew. I changed it with the a similar spec 47ohm 2 watt yageo resistor but it still keeps blowing the resistor. Checking with the multimeter the motor, capacitor, diodes, and thermal fuse all checked normal. Will a higher ohm resistor work better? What ohm resistor will work better to repair this waterpik? This video is showing the repair with a 56 ohm resistor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J7_rV7ui1Y3 Photos
