    Flyback Ring Tester

good day every one. i just build a flyback tester a couple days ago and functionally when i tested it, many thanks for Mr Humphrey and their site for a schematic. the picture below and i am not boxing it yet

    but i have a question.
is there any chance that flybacktester to test secondary PSU transformer? i have looks around google and youtube, and find that it's impossible test secondary of transformer because the "ring" produced by secondary transformer really a small. anyone has it and tested it? and how to try secondary if possible? and how to make that device full function to test other's component if possible?

    Re: Flyback Ring Tester

Post the SCH so we can see how it works. When you test the transformer using the ringer on the primary side (or secondary side), if the secondary has shorted turn, the ringing will be reduced which indicate bad transformer. You do not have to worry about testing the primary or secondary if the ringing is bad, then you have bad transformer. The shorted turn (in either side of the transformer) will cause the ringing to stop so the circuit cannot count how many rings the transformer produces.
You can try this tester on variety of the transformers, then short out the other windings of the transformer to see what the result you will get, tester is more or less sensitive from each design. You just have to get use to what your tester is telling you.

yeah. i have tested and sometimes the secondary doesn't make the led lit. so i just wanna know is that bad transformer or the secondary exactly couldn't tested by it. so i asking for someone's ever use it to give me clues. here the pdf sch that u can found at Mr Humprey site.
