    Re: electromagnetic field therapy

Can you tell me the printing on the two caps I show in the pictures? I need to know the DC rating of those two caps. Do not put the new fuse in until we figure out how those Diode shuld be installed, otherwise more damage may occur.
Can you look at your friend board just to see how it looks inside? That will save me lots of time drawing up the diagram.

I'm going to take a look tomorrow to the one he has at home, maybe that will shed some light on the problem.
also what do you guys think about the bridge in the pic pemf11 left corner?
      thanks a lot

At least the good clear pictures of the board. Take as many pictures as you can.
I did not get that far of the circuits yet, that red box is an RFI filter. RI110PC single choke design.

Make sure to use time-delay fuse.

Using a higher current fuse is unlikely to pose a safety hazard in this instance.

We have some lab power supplies in our microcontroller lab, and they use toroidal transformers. They blow the 3A fuses all .. the .. time ... teacher replaces 2 or 3 every day.

why? i tough it was safer to use the fast acting ones. good to know

Toroid transformer can have 10~20 time inrush current of the continuous current draw.
You can also see the fues rating with 'T 1.25A' in the front panel indicating Time Delayed fuse.

that's why i'm blowing fuses then! i'm been using fast acting 1A. i'm gonna try to find those locally, to see if that solves the fuse problem, that way i can troubleshoot the problem of the pads not getting signal.
                thank you!

                  Re: electromagnetic field therapy

OK I think I have it figured out- the red block is a pulse-transformer used to trigger the SCR 2N5444, so this device uses 24VAC phase-control to the induction coils. If the ind. coil is not connected, does it still blow fuses?

The other 24VAC winding is for the Vreg which would give too much 58VDC instead of 40VDC max. so the zeners are used to lower this. You should have TWO zeners and a regular rectifier diode (last) in the string of three. Since you get the red LED on, there is power to the control circuits. Measure the Vreg pins 1,2,3,4 and let us know.

Check the induction coil and cable for damage, since it goes to the horse it might have a short.

                    Re: electromagnetic field therapy

That is what it looks like two 4.7V in series to drop 24 to about 14.6VAC (24VAC half-wave setup without the 2 Zener will be about 34VDC) to feed the Rectifier that feeds the two caps. The maker could have use 12AC winding for this section instead of using two 24v windings.
                    Pin 1 is ground
                    Pin 2 is Vin
                    Pin3 is Vout
                    Pin4 is V adj pin.
There are two resistors for adjusting the output voltage of this regulator.

I'll check that tomorrow as soon as i got more fuses!!!
                      Thanks a lot!

i'm remembering now, yesterday when the machine started blowing fuses after i replace the bad zener, i desolder the new (good) zener and i wired back again the bad zener (shorted) the way it was, and the fuse didnt pop, but i connected the pad and the fuse blew right away. maybe that explains something.
                      Thanks a lot guys!

"So anyway, the machine powers up and everything seems to work correctly but, there is no output signal to the pads" So it did not blow the fuse when the Pad was connected in the beginning.
                        Now
"but i connected the pad and the fuse blew right away" That is very important info.

i forgot about that part because of the frustation of blowing fuses one after another! and running out of them! because at the begining it wasnt blowing fuses with that bad diode in there and the pad in.

By the way, here is how to calculate the Vout of the regulator. I see two resistors close to the heatsink one looks like Yellow/Violet/Red (4700 Ohms) which is connected between the ADJ pin and Ground so it will be R2, the other (R1 which is connected between Out and ADJ pin) I am not sure about the color it looks like it has Brown/Black/Orange/Red (10K 2%)?

Do not plug in the transducer yet, check the SCR 2N5444 (you had indicated it as 2N4444 in the earlier post) for short as indicated by redwire. Also check those recitifiers by the Red box inductor for shorts.

The rectifiers are fine, I already check them. Besides the one next to the red box, which is the one with the wierd bridge making it shorted.

this therapy is widely used on race and jumping horses for regeneration and repair of tendons and bones, those horses are like human athletes, so they get the best to improve their performance. they even use it in the Olympics!
there are pads for local application, and other for full body. and usually is like 15 to 30 minutes treatment daily.
hope it helps. i'm not an expert so if you have any question i can ask him. he's been treating horses and other animals (even humans) wtih this machine since 1982

What Zener Diodes on a Linear Power Supply
                                            by caspian
                                            Dear members,

I have a linear variable power supply with unknown brand name that I used for voltage injection.
Then it failed. I discovered that its transistors (Q1 and Q2) are shorted.
In addition, I discovered that its zener diodes are defective.
I can replace the burned transistors.
But I do not know the model of the zener diodes. the model number is not marked on the zener diodes.
Therefore, I cannot replace the zener diodes.
I do not want to test the zener diodes in a test circuit to discover their model or value.
                                            no schematics are available...

                                            by CG2
OK, this is a long shot. I got this sewing machine cheap because it's end of line, ex-display, and had no pedal. The genuine pedal costs £60, while Ebay knock-offs go for around £15. So I went for the knock-off, it doesn't work, and I'm not sure whether it's the pedal or the sewing machine that has the problem.

Now this is an electronic machine, unlike the old fashioned sort where the pedal was a big resistor in series with the power to the motor. Here, the pedal is just (I think) a variable resistor fed with a 5 volt supply, and limited to a current of 5 milliamps. Assuming that...

                                            Hi everyone,

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.
The power supply board reference is the following: DC41-00189a

                                            by nev1001
Hi, I'm looking for a bit of help trying to fix the audio unit from a Maestro Mayhem 4.1 gaming chair please.

The chair has a few speakers and vibration motors. All was well, for a while, but now the sound is gone.

It may be significant that I discovered my son was powering it with a 19V laptop charger when it should run on 12V - it did fully work, for bit.

I think an issue could be a zener diode (or capacitor) which has shorted out.

The board's bluetooth input still works, the vibration motors are working, so is the line out socket but not the...
