    Re: Electrostatics

I remember now that long time ago I zapped the PC case with a high ESD (I even saw and heard the spark) when I was about to open it, the PC was unplugged at the time, could the ESD reach the motherboard through the case? The PC is working fine at the time being.

    Thanks

Not if the grounding is proper and working.

MSI H410I PRO WIFI - bios mod, disable overcurrent protection
        by sant1
        Hello,

Could someone disable USB over-current protection in this bios? Message is displayed over display-port: "Over Current Have Been Detected On Your USB Device!! System will shutdown after 15 seconds to protect your mainboard!!"

        Attached dump to this post.

Diagnosed and come to a conclusion that PCH is faulty, there are overcurrent voltage dividers (net names OC#0 to OC#7) on USB power lines, dividers output is nearly 0V, PCH is pulling some of them down. Dividers resistors values are ok and data lines and VCC are not shorted.

        Thank...

this tv would work fine on scart or hdmi ,
but no digital channels just the first time install menu
        every time you switched on
i tried to find how to do factory reset with no luck
when auto tune was completed it would show how many chans found ,
then after pressing ok or exit
tv would return to sby and no chans stored
i found that menu 1147 would enter s mode
and the 6th choice on the list was
        : init fac channel ,
so i pressed ok and ok appeared .i exited s menu and now tv comes out of sby and after...

        Daewoo DT-42A1 not storing settings
        by Trevtron
A friend asked me to look at this old-school plasma set.
It runs fine, still has a good image considering its age but every time it is switched off (at the mains) it "forgets" all its settings.
I've had a good look around, was hoping to find a lithium or backup battery, or a storage capacitor but there's nothing obvious on the psu or main board.
Anyone had dealings with these? I know it's not worth a fortune but it would be a shame to bin it.
        TIA....

Lenovo P14s Gen 5 SVP unlock
        by Syseng
This sums up discussion related to Lenovo P14s Gen5 in this thread. Credits go to Sbaro and especially Maxpower3. The locked dump is attached.

The device is based on NM-F871 motherboard with Nuvoton NPCK397 series controller. The motherboard also contains three BIOS chips: two different Winbond chips for main BIOS and external EC flash, and also a Gigadevice chip which purpose I do not know. The password information is contained directly in controller and thus can be manipulated by reprogramming it, so reprogramming BIOS chips is technically not required, however you may wish to make...

        Storing Li-ion cells...
        by eccerr0r
        Sigh.

I had a good Li-ion spare cell that I kept in the refrigerator for safekeeping. It was charged to about 50% before storage and AFAIK it does not have protection - the phone handles the battery gauge.

A few years later I decide to inspect the cold storage Li-ion cells I have. This cell shorted while in the refrigerator... the only one of the 10-15 I have in cold storage! And this particular cell I was hoping to preserve (among a few, there are a bunch there that I didn't care for if they died but kept there anyway.)

        The battery developed a fairly...
