Re: Rework Station Pump - Can They Be Repaired ?
Should the diaphragms be strong enough to keep the piston from being pulled sideways to one of the coils ?

Re: Rework Station Pump - Can They Be Repaired ?
Removed the diaphragms and the bottom plate. The piston vibrates but does not move back and forth like it should. I can't yet tell if there is a track it should move in or moves just by magnetics ?
It seems like the diaphragms are weak, not torn in any way but too pliable. If these are meant to keep the piston in place then they are too weak as I can easily move the piston up and down with light pressure.
Any thoughts ?Last edited by mmartell; 04-04-2016, 03:39 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Rework Station Pump - Can They Be Repaired ?
Had a closer look at the diaphragms and I see no evidence of degradation or tearing. Will remove the bottom plate and check the motor itself next. Looks like these motors run off line voltage intead of the 12v I was expecting.Leave a comment:

You can also replace with an air horn pump. Check the voltage though.Leave a comment:

Rework Station Pump - Can They Be Repaired ?
Turned on my 852+ clone the other day and the unit made a damn racket. Noticed quickly there was little to no airflow out from the wand nozzle and shut it down.
It seems there are seals at the diaphrams that are know to melt or otherwise malfunction but parts are all but impossible to procure.
Has anyone rebuilt one of these with off the shelf parts or should I start looking to replace the whole station ?Tags: None

by petemanukHi,
I been playing with a recently acquired IR6500 rework station and watching lots of YouTube tutorials to see how to use it with not much success. I’ve only recently joined badcaps but going through the forums there is a lot of knowledge here, so though it best is if I ask my question here.
1. Firstly is the IR6500 any good for BGA rework or should I be spending my money on a better one.
2. The instruction manual is pretty useless on explaining how to set the PID loops (no information at all!!) both top and bottom heater for th Kp, Ki and Kd...10-14-2022, 12:31 AM -

works great.
so here's the discoveries.
the pump "modules" have 4 parts, the main body, the outside bit, the inside bit - screwed to the main body, and the diaphram.
the failure is the inside bit, it has a rubber coating for some reason that becomes tacky and breaks down - contaminating the diaphram.
so you need to clean everything to get rid of all the tacky black stuff.
then reassemble it.
*BUT*
you must put the 2 screws into the assembly only finger-tight.
if you tighten it properly the valves dont work.... - Loading...
