The text in the pictures shows 24~27V, but the technical Data sheets shows 220 VAC.

The frequency feeding the load (pump or lamp) will be the same as the line frequency.
The Voltage is to the load is the function of the on time of the TRIAC on each half of the cycle.

the two magnetic coils are connected out of phase to get the push-pull effect on the movable magnet piece.
BTW, this is some basic principle how the Double Diaphragm pump functions.

I wonder what the operating Voltage for your pump is. Per this site it shows 24~27V.

The air volume knob was changing the voltage applied to the pump but at 60hz it was just buzzing. Maybe the function of the triac is to change another variable beyond ac voltage ?

If MT1 to MT2 is shorted then the pump should be on all the time at full blast, same symptom when the TRIAC shorted out in the lamp dimmer the lamp will be on bright.
Something is not making sense here.

if it's fucked, put a heatsink on the new one.

try looking in lamp dimmers or things with variable speed motors - like vac cleaners.

The triac is a BT137-600E and is shorted between MT1 and MT2. No short on the board.

What devices might have one of these so I can harvest the part at least temporarily ?

I soldered two longer wires to the pump so I could inspect it's operation outside the unit.

The pump seems ok, it measures fine and worked when driven with a series of batteries.

BUT I don't know how I missed this because it was one of the first things I checked when I suspected the pump itself was ok but after all this I found a short from MT2-Gate on the non-heatsinked triac.

I'm going to remove it from the board shortly for verification.

BTW, the two wires for the pump are Blacks, but the two wires soldered to the back of the board are Yellow and Violet?
The resistance of the pump windings are good, not showing open circuit?

If you hook up the lamp (low wattage lamp) to the two wires of the pump, you should see the lamp goes bright or dim when you turn the Pump control knob up and down. It looks to be just a simple lamp dimmer circuit.

    the fishtank ones are 60Hz

it's to see if the current is there with the voltage.

No because I measure 120v @ 60hz at the pump (coil) terminals. I have to believe that 60hz is way too fast for that little piston so I'm relatively certain something in the circuit must have failed.

did you try replacing it with a lamp?

Need some help here before I back over this thing with my car.

Can anyone shed some light on how the pump is driven based on the pics of the board I posted earlier ?

Re: Rework Station Pump - Can They Be Repaired ?

Used a short stack of 9v batteries to drive the piston in both directions so the pump itself is fine.

The driver board itself consists of two BT137 triacs, an op amp, a couple of caps and several diodes and resistors including eleven high wattage ones.

Earlier I measured the ac voltage to be variable (60-120v) at 60hz. There is no way this piston can oscillate that fast so there must be a breakdown of the circuit feeding it.

Can anyone explain how they think the ac wave is constructed to drive the pump ? By what means can this circuit change a 120v 60hz voltage to say 120v at 5hz ?

That is the same unit as mine essentially. My diaphragms are fine though.

The pump has no markings whatsoever.

no, unless you see an isolation transformer the pump is live.

is the pump marked with it's voltage or wattage etc?

But at 60hz I'd doubt I would even see flicker ? Won't hurt to try.

I don't think I'm comfortable hooking up my scope to mains which is why I was wondering if the motor was somehow isolated from mains already.

if your scope is good for mains - go for it.
if not, hook a small coil or inductor to the scope probe, put the voltage to max sensitivity per div, and put it on the wire!!

you should get a lamp with variable brightness from full to something less - not nothing obviously, but maybe 20% or so.

That is a good idea. From what I have read about triacs they can be used for phase angle control.

What should I expect to see with a bulb ? If it's safe to hook up a scope to the motor leads then I can do that, too.

    wds-580 rework station issue
    by shahnld
    Good day.
i received used bga rework station wds-580 which was not going above 300c despite the parameter was set to 350c, Everytime beeps at 300c so i did a factory reset and by mistake washed data and log etc. now the station boots to a white screen.

Does anyone has a firmware for this station and want to share with me. i will really appreciate any help possible..

    kind regards...

    Good day Experts.

I have recently aquired a rework station SEAMARK ZM-R6800,. Is there anyone using this or some other similar station and give me some info about profile temp curve etc for removing leadfree soldered gpu chip..? just 1 profile will be enough to get started.

    Kind regards

    Help with IR6500 rework station
    by petemanuk
    Hi,

I been playing with a recently acquired IR6500 rework station and watching lots of YouTube tutorials to see how to use it with not much success. I’ve only recently joined badcaps but going through the forums there is a lot of knowledge here, so though it best is if I ask my question here.

    1. Firstly is the IR6500 any good for BGA rework or should I be spending my money on a better one.

    2. The instruction manual is pretty useless on explaining how to set the PID loops (no information at all!!) both top and bottom heater for th Kp, Ki and Kd...

    ZD desoldering station pump rebuild
    by stj
    just did one.
    works great.

    so here's the discoveries.
the pump "modules" have 4 parts, the main body, the outside bit, the inside bit - screwed to the main body, and the diaphram.
the failure is the inside bit, it has a rubber coating for some reason that becomes tacky and breaks down - contaminating the diaphram.
so you need to clean everything to get rid of all the tacky black stuff.
    then reassemble it.
    *BUT*
you must put the 2 screws into the assembly only finger-tight.
if you tighten it properly the valves dont work....
