Re: Altronics T2380 Soldering station busted
Farnell only seem to offer Xytronic tips
Xytronic themselves are no help - got two replies from them:
First said "You have to get them from where you getting your soldering station ? Due to this model had been specially made for them !
We do not stock them !"
Second gave me a URL for Altronics, and Altronic's part number
For part numbers I tracked down, the only option seems to be Polish sites, and communicating with them would be an issue for me
Seems to me it's a typical Asian product scenario where focus is on manufacturing, to exclusion of any service, support or compatibility
There is also heating element 79-210012U around the traps, where I bet the suffix stands for Updated, because it seems to be for soldering handle 210ESD
I think a 210ESD is compatible with my station, but its tips seem to be different, so thinking about that as option would mean throwing more good money after badbetter to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubtComment

Re: Altronics T2380 Soldering station busted
Got a prompt reply that they don't ship to Australia
Nothing ventured nothing gained, I asked if they knew whether xytronic.com.pl would do so
Another prompt reply that xytronic.com.pl is also theirs
I also asked www.rapidonline.com if they could supply 79-210012
They suggested 79-210012U which doesn't look suitable in their picture, and I'm pretty sure is for later model 210ESD soldering handle
So looks like I'm SOL until November, assuming Altronics can even supply a spare part thenbetter to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubtComment

Re: Altronics T2380 Soldering station busted
Well, if you posted pictures of the control board we could probably figure it out, though it does seem likely the heater is bad, so probably not needed.
I guess it's better to wait then, or just get a new station."Tantalum for the brave, Solid Aluminium for the wise, Wet Electrolytic for the adventurous"

Re: Altronics T2380 Soldering station busted
Shot myself in the foot
After ruining a motherboard trying to remove caps with my old station, I noticed Altronics offering suspected closing-out price on their T2460 - I think a rebadged Xytronic LF-2000:
http://www.altronics.com.au/p/t2460-...ering-station/
or first pic
Bright idea was to try old handpiece on new station, and vice versa
It arrived today, and its handpiece is six-pin connector, not seven
Handpiece seems to be a Xytronic 307K - at least it's a much lighter & neater unit
So my quest continues for a heater element like second pic, borrowed from:
http://ndn.com.pl/akcesoria/3034-grzalka-79-210012.html
who won't deliver to Australia
FWIW, original station looks like third picbetter to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubtComment

by sam_sam_samI have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails
I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time... -

A few months ago,I have purchased 0.1mm Soldering Iron Tip of below aliexpress link,But I noticed that It is totally impossible to use this 0.1mm iron tip in the T12 soldering station
https://ko.aliexpress.com/item/4001275635593.html
Is there any good soldering station which is possible to use 900M-TJ-I tip and have inexpensive or reasonable price in aliexpress?
Any reply would be appreciated. -
by capriderHey,
I'm looking for some recommendations of a decent quality soldering station and a separate hot air station. I'm just a hobbyist, so even if (ultra)premium tools are not required, I still want some good tools. They should be available in Europe.
I now have a TS100 and some soldering irons and looking for some better tools.
1. Soldering station, budget around 200-240€
JBC BT-2BWA seems to be a good product in the budget.
2. Hot air station, budget around 200€
Up to now I've found ATTEN ST-862D to be a good option.... -
by mkbehbehI purchased this soldering station when it was on sale at amazon. It had a slew of one star reviews, but the price was low enough that even if the controller and PSU were toast, the handle tips and stand were worth more than the price. All of the reviews mentioned that the unit was either DOA, or died on the first use. I looked on Aliexpress and the first clue was that KSGER still sold the 220V version of this station, but all of the 110V versions had been discontinued. I figured That there was a problem with the 110V on the power suppply and the controller would be fine.

by Peter_1402Hi Everyone,
I bought a Yihua 992DA+ hot air gun and soldering iron unit from a used market.
1. Soldering iron works great
2. There is a burnt mark on the hot air gun handle.
I am a bit concern by the look of the melted plastic. I opened the hot air gun handle and took some readings with a multimeter.
Heating element ~ 75ohm. (Similar reading taken from a spare heating element that came with the unit.)
Thermocouple ~ 1.5ohm. (Similar reading from the spare heating element.)
Reed switch tested ok with a magnet.
From the above test, I can conclude... - Loading...
