Banana jack for hooded test leads

What is the name for a banana jack that will take a hooded test probe? This is the type of recessed jack a DMM uses, although I need panel mount.

My ESR meter uses a recycled PH meter with normal banana jack mounting posts, but it would be better if I could use standard multimeter test leads with the hooded banana connectors.

Searching at Digikey hasn't found them, but I'm not sure what to call these jacks.

Are you looking for jacks for sheathed banana plugs?

Yes! But just a pair... Some places might call these "shrouded", too. Mouse has a pair, but doesn't say if they're red/black or just black. Doesn't matter for an ESR meter, anyway. Odd that Digikey doesn't have them in singles or pairs.

      Thanks!

Why don't you buy a $2 multimeter at Harbor Freight and rip the jacks out of it?

Actually did have some low-quality dead DMMs... somebody thought it was a good idea to measure AC current in parallel, and the fuses didn't save them.

The jacks weren't panel-mount. They're just a tube soldered to the board with a plastic tube that fits down over it to insulate the outside.

It looks like the Cen-Tech multimeter

              http://www.harborfreight.com/7-funct...ter-90899.html

has a 3.5mm deep jack. The "mid to higher" range multimeters use a 4.0mm deep jack.

Found these jacks from http://www.caltestelectronics.com/ww...m+Safety+Jacks, got them from TestPath.com.

Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
                  by chth96
I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

How Can I test PWM DM0365R?
                  by chth96
                  Hello
I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor....

Samsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board USB jack indentification
                  by valvashon
Samsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board, BN41-01894, bad USB jack. Jack is mangled and needs replacing with like. Jack is marked "Simula" with the number 130318. Search for Simula turns up a weak looking website of a company that seems/seemed to supply USB jacks and other USB technology but no current items turn up for sale.

I should be able to research and find something applicable through a Digi-Key search after I unsolder/cut out this one and measure the mounting/pin connection pattern on the board but I thought I'd ask here to see if anybody knows of an exact make/model...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                  by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

test active pfc power with lamp test
                  by khelane
                  Hello
I have a big problem and that is that in some cases when repairing active pfc power supplies I cannot work with a test lamp. I can only get help with 5 volts standby and for starting and starting I have to work without a lamp and this way there is a possibility of parts exploding and other parts being added.
Sometimes with a multimeter test the problems can be reduced to some extent, but I had several cases that had to be tested on and online and recently two varistors exploded. They had terrible resistance because the power supplies were over 800 watts.
                  Is there a way...
