I have an Apple MacBook A1990 15" 2018 board 820-01041. It just went out during operation and won't start anymore. When I connect the charging cable, there is only 5V but it shows 1.55A see picture. I exchanged the Q3200 but it didn't help .

Re: Macbook A1990 820-01041-A No Power on
Remove all power. Measure the resistance across fuse F7000 and also F7001.
Are any of these fuses blown? Resistance should be ~0 ohms if ok.
Next, remove both fuses, F7000 & F7001 off the logic board.
Power up again with your adapter and measure the voltage to ground of F7000 PCB pad, pin # 1.
Pin #1 is the producer side of this voltage rail which is created by U7000 (ISL9240).
What is the voltage of PPBUS_G3H now ?Comment

Re: Macbook A1990 820-01041-A No Power on
Ok if the fuse is removed, the 9M ohms is on which pin of F7000 PCB pads?
Pin #1 is towards the U7000 (ISL chip). Pin # 2 is the consumer side.
Suspecting that pin #1 is with the high resistance? If yes, power up without these fuses.
Measure the VOLTAGE to ground @ Pin #1 of F7000 PCB pad.
What voltage is now present?Comment

Re: Macbook A1990 820-01041-A No Power on
Resistance is great but voltage is not.
Confirm the voltages on the input of U7000.
With a 5 volt adapter voltage, this regulator should kick into BOOST voltage mode to supply a higher voltage @ pin #1 of the F7000 pad.
Be sure that you are truly on pin #1 of the fuse pad.Comment

Hi, I found short on one of 6 black nand (total 1TB).
i removed all 6 nand ( voltages all ok) and now i want to program with JC P15 but for A1990 2019 there is only 512GB configuration.
I try A2141 1TB configurazion with TSB4228 but the position on pcb is different ( U9300 and U9400 is no stuff on A1990 but present on A2141 and U8800 and U8900 is no stuff on A2141 but present on A1990 )
macbook with A2141 configuration run on recovery but don't complete it.
anyone can help me?05-26-2025, 09:27 AM -
by robkaHi,
my MacBook Pro 15" 2018 Touch Bar (A1990) doesn't charge anymore. Board# 820-01041-A
I'm not experienced in diagnostics, but I want to try to solve the problem with your help, because every local shop charges around 600€ (650 usd). Which is the value of the whole Macbook.
The Macbook was charging when suddenly the "charging sound" appeared every other second for around 4-5 times.
After that the Macbook was dead. It isn't charging anymore.
The USB-C Port where the charger was plugged is burned. Also The Cable and the... -
by DATATECH85Hello,
I am currently working on a Macbook Pro A1990 (motherboard 820-01041) which is not charging.
The Macbook consumes 5V and 0.019A at USB-C. There seems to be a partial short-circuit on the PPBUS_G3H rail as I have 0V on this rail.
I've physically separated (by removing F7000 and F7001) PPBUS_G3H and the ISL9240 charging chip to see which side the short is coming from. Removing these fuses gives me 12.6V at the output of the ISL chip (PPVBAT_G3H_CHGR_REG).
However, I can't work out exactly why I don't have the PPBUS_G3H rail.
Here are the values... -
by falcontechHi,
I received a 2018 MacBook Pro A1990 for repair, and the motherboard was replaced, presumably purchased on AliExpress. The motherboard's activation is blocked because the previous owner didn't delete it. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I called Apple, and as expected, they asked me to activate the process with proof of purchase for the original computer, which I find very difficult, so the proof of purchase from AliExpress will be of little use. Any suggestions? Thanks. -
I have a a1990 2018 15 inch MacBook Pro that will not power on.
I have replaced the pch bga chip because it was heating up under my thermal camera.
I have replaced the battery, and replaced the small ic between the gpu and cpu as it had a direct short to ground.
the MacBook now pulls 20v 2.4amps the trackpad clicks but it does not ever attempt to power on not even fan spin. After PCH replacement I was able to get it in dfu mode 1 time and restore bridge OS, but now the MacBook will no longer go into DFU mode.
I have also noticed L7030 gets extremely hot yet... - Loading...
