    Eeepc source code

I went onto the asus driver site for the eeepc 701 and for the 4gb linux Ed there's a file called "eeepc 701 source code" it's 1.8gb in size and can be downloaded... Is this the official Linux for the 701? My 701 currently has xp and I want the official eeepc Linux for it.

    Thanks

I don't know if the official is any better than ubuntu or the other netbook remixes.

If that is official linux, you will have to build the source. That will suck.

FYI, xandros (defualt eee linux) sucks! try UNR or something else, eeebuntu 4 is very nice... i don't use it because it was too mac os like, but the utilities and function were top notch.

i use arch on my netbooks. fastest and lightest you can get. even eebuntu is better than eeelinux. xandros itself is alright, but its dumb on a netbook.

          Re: Eeepc source code

Well I have Windows XP on it now, and this annoying message "your screen resolution is too low* keeps coming up and it's driving me up the wall. I can't change the fact that my netbook screen is 800x480 and not 800x600... so shut the fuck up please Windows. Grrr...

And yes, I bought the Windows edition of the 701SD. Could've gone for the Linux edition... but oh well... after all I only got it for $100 off a friend who was going into the army reserves...

if you REALLY want xandros, screw it, torrent it; piratebay has it (i've come across it before)

try them all - they are 3.

and the only difference between the windoze & lin versions of the eepc is the win version comes with more ram.

so if you put lin on it, it will be better than if you got it that way.

                Re: Eeepc source code

for that model, yes, the win had more ram, but eventually that changed as windows xp home ULCPC license rules say the stock ram max=1gb... but linux has no such rules so they put in 2gb as stock... you would think win would need more, and it did, but bill gates trying to put vista shit in peoples faces made them cripple xp... and now you see why i use linux most of the time...

Ubuntu Linux Netbook Edition is supposed to be pretty good. Especially if you are new to Linux.

Xiaomi router freezes at boot after re-capping
                    by hinisa
I'm using Xiaomi Router 4A gigabit edition as wireless repeater. It worked fine for 2 years or so, but last week, wireless started to disappear.

When I unplug/replug the power, it was working fine for a day/half a day or so until it freezes again.

After testing with different power supply adapters and concluding it wasn't the issue I finally opened the case and this was the situation:

Anyway I proceed to clean up the mess and replace all caps but unfortunately it made the situation worse. Now router can't even boot, either it freezes during...

Asus X532FL 3.2V at source and gate
                    by Lvsitano
I am having some trouble with troubleshooting a Asus X532FL rev 2.0 motherboard, which does not power on. So at the first MOSFET, I am getting 19V at the drain, and then 3.2V on both gate and source (compared with ground). Of course, the 2nd MOSFET's source will have 3.2v at source.

                    First MOSFET is a QM3056M6 and 2nd MOSFET is a QM0930M3

I already checked first MOSFET and source and gate are not shorted (drain with source not shorted either). Also I have 1.7V at the LDO rail (measured at the keyboard connector, as the power button is on the keyboard).

                    First...
