Re: Xiaomi router freezes at boot after re-capping
Unfortunately there's only 1 place in town who sells small caps and only this no-name crap.
Extra cap is "cost optimization" by Xiaomi. It's populated in older revisisons
I actually also have the older revision and I've checked before installing they're exactly same caps (kys 470uf 25v), only differ in quantity.
Already cleaned in the 2nd pic....

Xiaomi router freezes at boot after re-capping
I'm using Xiaomi Router 4A gigabit edition as wireless repeater. It worked fine for 2 years or so, but last week, wireless started to disappear.
When I unplug/replug the power, it was working fine for a day/half a day or so until it freezes again.
After testing with different power supply adapters and concluding it wasn't the issue I finally opened the case and this was the situation:

Anyway I proceed to clean up the mess and replace all caps but unfortunately it made the situation worse. Now router can't even boot, either...Last edited by hinisa; 07-08-2023, 06:13 AM.

Re: leak or glue?
it has only 1 leg left other one looks burnt. psu still works splendidly, though.

Here I present CY1

I'm starting to think maybe it's better if I'd re-assembled this without any recap and only use it as power source for the tire inflator from now onRe: leak or glue?

Found an analysis of the psu here: https://www.overclock.net/threads/linkworld-lpj2-430w-a-turd-that-thought-it-could-fly.769505/Re: leak or glue?<br /> <br /> Fou....769505/

Re: leak or glue?
1, 2: Conicon 1009 - 1000uf 10V Low ESR
3: Conicon 1005 - 1000uf 10V
(1) and (3) looks slightly bulged, 2 isn't.
I bought 2 no-name 1000uf25V caps from local store but I'm not sure they'd be fit as low esr replacements.
Also wondering if I can install something in place of C42 which was left empty in factory.

yes, fan runs very fast and loudly. If I can't find a silent replacement fan I'm thinking of undervolting it by splicing from the 5V line.Re:...

leak or glue?
hi. psu works, but it was loud and filthy so I opened the case to dust it.
2 caps in the picture has a transparent yellow stuff on top of them but I'm not sure if they leaked or it's some kind of glue.

Re: GTX 750 HDMI output not working
Update:
I've managed to get picture from HDMI connector by forcing video output on linux nouveau driver and using a pre-loaded EDID file. So at least I know TMDS signals are going fine.
However, I couldn't get any data when I run i2cdump. Monitor isn't still connected i2c-wise. So either there's a problem in the DDC pins, or the VBIOS or driver isn't initializing DDC stuff without a hot-plug-detect event.

Re: GTX 750 HDMI output not working
I measured the resistors on Pin 19's path (hotplug detect pin) and they seem OK, too.
R4 97.5 kohm
R5 98.4 kohm
R6 00.5 ohm
R26 9.98 kohm
R6 should be 0.05 ohms but I thinks my multimeter isn't that sensitive.
I also checked Q5 transistor but I did it on PCB which I gather isn't very helpful.

Re: GTX 750 HDMI output not working
Thanks!
I've tried the bios at that link before, to no avail. I believe the original bios is this, and even with that still shows as Elpida RAM. Author of GPU-Z says RAM manufacturer is determined via a resistor strap on the board and firmware should not change the result.
I'm afraid this might be a hardware issue.

There's a schematics of a slightly different board here...Last edited by hinisa; 12-09-2021, 09:05 AM.

Re: GTX 750 HDMI output not working
Pin 18 gives 4.9V which is OK I guess.Last edited by hinisa; 12-08-2021, 09:10 AM.

I found boardview of the card and I'd appreciate any help on what to measure next. I'm a newbie....Last edited by hinisa; 12-07-2021, 09:07 AM.

Re: GTX 750 HDMI output not working
Another strange thing (maybe related?) about the card is GPU-Z always shows it as having Elpida memory regardless of which vbios I install.
Here it says there's a resistor for specifying which rams are installed on the board but I don't know
1. where it's on this board
2. Why would it be set to ElpidaRe: GTX 750 HDMI output not working

Re: GTX 750 HDMI output not working
Thanks
Connector is fine (there is a symmetrical gap at the bottom of the metal part which may look deceiving) Cables plugs in without a problem and sits fairly tight.
I measured continuity of 19 pins from cable to rear end of the connector. (I couldn't see further tracks on pcb unfortunately). All measured OK.

Last night I tried more vbios and different versions affect functionality of DVI port, too. So I still have a hope non-functionality of HDMI still might...Last edited by hinisa; 12-06-2021, 05:46 PM.

GTX 750 HDMI output not working
Hi
I have an GTX750-FML-1GD5 with a non-working HDMI port and I'd like to figure out what's the cause and if it's easily repairable.
GPU is working fine. VGA and DVI-D ports are also working just fine. But whatever monitor or TV I plug into the HDMI port, it isn't even recognized, let alone giving a display.
I took a glance at the HDMI port and couldn't see any obviously broken parts.
I've also read on various forums that some firmware versions have non-working hdmi, so I flashed dozen or so different VBIOS ROMs that I acquired from techpowerup...Last edited by hinisa; 12-05-2021, 08:51 AM.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 520-14IKB not powering on
Yes, I pryed it with plastic tool, it plopped right up.
More details:
Last time PC was working I was doing "maintainence".
I was planning to do a RAM upgrade, so I removed the back cover did some light cleaning. Ran memtest midnight for a few hours then shut down the PC. Next day I screwed the bottom cover back then it didn't start to my surprise.
Another thing I did was: Plastic hinges were shattered so I sprayed one of those instant freeze adhesives at one corner....Last edited by hinisa; 08-18-2021, 07:10 AM.

Re: Lenovo Yoga 520-14IKB not powering on
Thanks, sir, that was spot on.
I removed the heatsink and indeed small die is hottest.
Can it be repaired on board component-wise? Or the SoC chip must be replaced altogether?
Is there a further probing I can do with a cheap multimeter?
I'm adding a picture of soc area:

Lenovo Yoga 520-14IKB not powering on
Hi,
I'm not a technician so plase bear with me. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone nearby doing motherboard repairs so I'd be happy if I can narrow down the issue as much as possible myself.
Issue: Laptop doesn't power on.

No backlight.
Fans aren't spinning.
Battery seems to be charging when plugged in to AC. (judging by the solid white led indicator.)
I've unplugged battery cable and CMOS cable. Tried pressing power button for 30 seconds etc. Still not powering on.
When I plug in the AC, but not press the power on button yet, I can feel...Last edited by hinisa; 08-17-2021, 03:44 AM.
