    Whats wrong here?

I just sold one of my PCs today and the client has gotten home and now I've got a complaint...

This is what the email says...

"The comp wemt well when i got home and the moment i want to download chat or whatever nothiing big the screen goes balank
When i turn the Comp off it takes its time opening and sometimes it doesnt.
    I did nothing wrong."

Now i'm confused... it worked well when I used it here... I don't see why the problem has decided to arise when sold!
Anyway, what do you guys think I should do? I will fix it, but how?

The graphics card is an nvidia Ti200 64MB and the RAM is a Kingston 256MB chip.

That's why you never warranty a used computer. Show them it works, let them do whatever they want to check it, but once they buy it, they own it. tech support ends when they carry it away!

The hard drive could be dying from being dropped. How was it when it went out?

Other than that I'd ask him what is exactly wrong this one time just to make it right.

        I did nothing wrong.
2 to 1, he fucked it up downloading "chat".

a bad drive will bluescreen with a message,
          more likely he "installed" something.

i warranty usd computers, but i supply them with Linux.
i flat-refuse to supply windows and if they come back and windows is on it then i test it with a live disk.
if it's not the hardware they get told to fuckoff - literally!

i am famous - or maybe notorious round where i live for my attitude toward windows.
i turned a guy down just this afternoon - he had a laptop and said his gprs modem wouldnt get on the net.
i asked if it was a "pay as you go card" or a contract.
he said contract - then said it worked fine the day before.

          i said it's probably windows - see-ya!

            Re: Whats wrong here?

Ok... so I have figured something out this morning after I got this email from the elderly woman that bought my PC.

When i first turned on the Comp ater attaching everything it was going great.
Then i started to download something that was ok and the minute i went to display to change desktop pic it started.
It turned off and then it restarted and showed everything in black and white such as-starting off and came the page it told me in lines-start normally i pressed -enter and it went black and kept repeating itself so i turned it off -takes it time setting up after restarting -my monitor its blank for a while
Looks like she messed around with the display settings which would explain the problem...

              Bad &/or incompatible download.
It would be legit for you to charge to fix it though perhaps not in the best interest of your reputation or customer base.

I'll probably just do a system restore or similar....

Sounds like you sold one to my sister inlaw...I think I built her six good PC's over a three year time frame. Within a two weeks or so of delievery she wrecked everyone of them. On this last go round she started saying that I didn't know what I was doing and that my home builts were no good and that her friend was giving her a "Real" computer.... I said Ok fine Anna I'll be right down to pick up the one you have because its on loan to you. I didn't give it to you. Its a 170 mile round trip to her place and I made it in record time. I also told her to not even call me to fix this "real" computer because it isn't happening...Take it to Best Buy or what ever it is up the road and they will fix it for you. In a few weeks time she was calling me about her "real" pc not working right. I told her that she needs to restore or reload the the OS...Good bye. Anna did fix it but it took her half the summer to do so...LOL I told her that she had taken a big step in that she could now fix them too so you have even less reason to call me now when you bust one... To bad she isn't my good looking sister inlaw....We could have worked something out....

It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

I think I'll just exchange this system with a different one for her. She said she'd pay a little extra, so yeah. I'll just send her over my Dell GX260 and take this one back home and see what the hell is wrong with it.

This is why they say it's better to -teach- a man to fish.
Although in this case it's teach an Ann to fish.

And this time... it is SOLD AS IS! No tech support, nothing!

                                          Hello everyone.

I have come here with a rather specific question. I was given a Dell Latitude 7420 laptop with a busted screen, and wanted to see if I could refurbish it into my daily driver. I wanted to experiment and see if a 2-in-1 display would work as the chassis of the laptop and 2-in-1 7420 looked identical. I threw in the display and my hypothesis was correct, however, I was greeted with a locked BIOS and since I didn't know the password, I figured I'd try to unlock it somehow. I bought one of those POGO pin probe things for my CH341A programmer so I could read and make...

                                          Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me.
I have an Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 (G814JZ) laptop with a Winbond 25Q16JWNIG chip on the motherboard.

Unfortunately, I flashed the wrong file (BIOS/EC/other region – I'm honestly not sure anymore), and now the laptop is completely dead: no display, no fan spin, no reaction at all.

I have a CH341A programmer and I'm able to read and write to the chip. However, I'm not sure which software is best (AsProgrammer, NeoProgrammer, etc.) or if there's anything specific I should watch out for.
                                          A valid BIOS/EC backup...

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader
                                          by BMCappelletti
                                          Long story short:
                                          - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
                                          - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
                                          - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
                                          - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

HP 840 G1 Completely wrong system info
                                          by Andreasbest
                                          Hello.
I received a 840 G1 with completely wrong system info in BIOS.
Serial Number and everything is wrong, even the Model is wrong (written as 850 G1)
How can i reset these info?

                                          Thank you!

                                          hi,
i've being using this Cello tv, uk brand, C40rts, HK.T.RT2841P638 main board, for a year or more.
Last week i've found an update, 3rd party, that i though it was close to my board. Inserted on a usb stick the install.img, started the Firmware update, ended, rebooted and nothing. The led (red-green) keeps flashing, backlight is on but to response on remote.
I've retried with original fw, no success. Hooked the uart Cp2102, putty, tried to swuu command (to update from usb), it goes for a while the get "cpu reset" on laptop screen that brakes the process and halt....
