Re: Computer seems hyper-sensitive to power outages

The upshot of always using Microsoft drivers, or changing them, is that it's easier to move the HDD to a motherboard with a different chipset.

I'd put in another board with a chipset other than nVidia or VIA, perhaps SiS?

Well I'm sure Intel don't have AMD boards with their chipset on, I hate nVidia and VIA chipsets, what else does that leave us?

I don't touch the AMD side of the fence, so am out of practice with any other offerings.

            Or Intel chipset based boards.

This is why I said: AMD chipset or Intel chipset. AMD bought ATI and AMD developed futhur on ATI chipsets into much better AMD chipsets like 790, 785 etc.

I always use boards with Intel chipsets - but in the case of finding a replacement for his AM2 board, I didn't think this was a viable option.

If you need an AM2 board then something with an ATI 7XX chipset is probably the best.

Correct!! Still can buy AM2+ boards. These uses DDR2 only. Get 780G AM2+ board, this will handle AM2 cpu too. I checked.

Also this is excellent path to move up to AM3 CPU when ready to spend on new CPU.

                    by mosfetratus
When i fully shut off mac, orange light goes off and wont react to power button. I have difficult time resetting with combination "shift+control+option and power button", because it rarely works (reason unknown), when i manage to get orange light and then press power button macbook wont turn on and orange light goes off. When i hold combination with power button it turns on, and works fine if put it to sleep mode.

Works with battery and charges, but when i shut off i get this problem.

It had liquid spill. Board has no corrosion, keyboard is working, power button...

                    Hi guys!

I'm in need of some support so I can try to fix my laptop/gpu.
While I am a cerified automotive mechatronic, I have only basic understanding of electronics repair and identification.
I'd like to identify the issue and replace the specific component myself to learn about electronics and expand my skills a bit.
No better time than now, when my laptop, Alienware 18 from 2013, shut down when playing and refused to start again.
I know about electric diagnostics in and about cars, but I've never dabbled with electronics.
                    However, I know...

No SLP_S5 signal - SAMSUNG NP350V5C shut down while booting
                    by Bimad99
                    Hello everyone,
                    I have this case a SAMSUNG NP350V5C, board number is QCLA4 LA-8861P Rev : 2.0.
the laptop was dead because of triggered 3.3v and 5v supplies, the problem solved and the laptop fired up, I tried to boot to Linux at first but the laptop completely shuts off while booting all the times i try and it doesn't turn on only after couple hours, So i decided to change the RAM and install windows 10, the installation was successful but when it was booting to windows for the first time it shut down again, But this time it is refusing to turn on even after waiting for hours....
