Hahaha this was pure gold, I really did laugh out loud!
About the 3Dfx 5500: Yes it had a molex connector, one of the first.
The 3Dfx 6000 however would have an external 12v adapter.
3Dfx went bankrupt before its release though.
But the pre-production boards that showed up here and there:
Most of them where modded with a regular internal 12v molex connector.
The only reason for the external PSU back then was that in the year 2000 most PSU's where junk.
So they would have been unable to deliver the measly 60w TDP required by the card."The one who says it cannot be done should never interrupt the one who is doing it."
