A joke perhaps referring to its power draw ?

Definitely. The power plugs are very out of proportion (way too small). Clearly a photochop....but yea...I remember a similar joke with the voodoo5500, one of the first GPU's that didn't power from the bus, and required additional power connectors.

Hahaha this was pure gold, I really did laugh out loud!

About the 3Dfx 5500: Yes it had a molex connector, one of the first.
The 3Dfx 6000 however would have an external 12v adapter.
3Dfx went bankrupt before its release though.
But the pre-production boards that showed up here and there:
Most of them where modded with a regular internal 12v molex connector.
The only reason for the external PSU back then was that in the year 2000 most PSU's where junk.
So they would have been unable to deliver the measly 60w TDP required by the card.

                  Yup, exactly.

I wonder how many people fell for this one, though.

On a similar note, there was also a running joke about the nVidia GeForce FX5800 Ultra with its "dustbuster" cooling coming with a pair of ear protectors included in the box with the card.

77 dB worth of cooling capacity!

Yes, either that, or the few good ones (made for OEM PCs) were only rated for 4 to 6 Amps on the 12V rail (and often times were already running low on the 12V rail even with just a single HDD and optical.)

The GeForce RTX 3080 is an enthusiast-class graphics card by NVIDIA, launched on September 1st, 2020. Built on the 8 nm process, and based on the GA102 graphics processor, in its GA102-200-KD-A1 variant, the card supports DirectX 12 Ultimate. This ensures that all modern games will run on GeForce RTX 3080. Additionally, the DirectX 12 Ultimate capability guarantees support for hardware-raytracing, variable-rate shading and more, in upcoming video games. This happened last Saturday and today I finally had time this morning before I went to work to replace two non brand capacitors

I will let you be the judge weather or not these are bad or not according to the blue ESR meter that I am using

I am comparing them to a brand new one that I installed

The display came back on and the programming was not lost which I was surprised by I would have thought that when the display went blank that so did the memory as well

I going to let it run for several days before I remount back on the wall next to the...
