    Pimp my drive

I have always wanted to have a hard drive that not only worked bu also had a window in it.
Well, two dremel grinding discs, a cd case, some hot glue and a hard drive later I had an old 3Gb WD Caviar drive that was exactly that: A hard drive with a window.

It's not really pretty (it was a test job) but after all was said and done I popped the drive in a computer and threw every test I could at it to see if I had gotten dust on the platters. So far it has passed everything I have thrown at it. No errors. Nothing!

Hmm, If this keeps up, I should buy a few SATA drives off ebay and to the same but also buy one of those plexiglass cases so that not only can you see the inside of your computer but also the inside of the hard drives! While I am at it, I should also do the same to the optical drives as well!

    Just realized something.
The bastards left two whole platters unused and sold it as a 3Gb drive.

They do that all the time.
The extra platters failed testing so they disabled them in the firmware and sold it as a smaller capacity drive.

It looks great, especially for a quick job like this
Now add in a few LEDs and it would be complete .

          Maybe some ground-effects, too...

I was thinking of doing that (just barely have the room) but decided against it as I have this thing with adding leds to computers.
