Re: Stevo wants a new monitor.

On the screen that I am on now (a Sampo PD-70FA2 15" LCD), I can see up to the words "Is this text visible luma level 8".... dunno if thats good or bad? I will give a response about how the text does on the LG tomorrow when I get up.... currently it's 1AM and I think I better get some sleep.

        Thanks.

is it just when looking the screen from above or from usual viewing angle too?

That was looking from the usual angle actually. I tried it again last week so I was pretty happy.

Re: Stevo wants a new monitor.

Anyway, my LG W2242T has been fine since the day I bought it.

                  But....

Now my brother wants a new monitor. Not a 22" monitor though, just the standard 19" Widescreen one. It will be replacing the BenQ FP937s that he is currently using.
We are currently looking at the LG 19" widscreen one (forgot model) and also an Asus 19" widescreen one.
Are Asus monitors any good? He can't afford the nice Samsung one so that's out of the question.... bascially he can only afford anything $190 and backwards.

                  Thanks.

Well... 1.5 years later and my brother finally gets a new display!

I just went out to pick up an Asus VH242H for him. It's a 24" widescreen LCD with DVI, VGA and HDMI as well. I'd have to say that I am really impressed with its image quality and crispness.

good for him... sounds really nice. wish i had one...

                      for that matter,

the only lcd's i use are on laptops, my desktops and tv's are all crt

because of that, i grant anybody who wants to call me a loser in this thread the privilege of calling me a loser, in this thread.

CRTs do the job, they just take too much desk space up for me.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Re: Stevo wants a new monitor.

I cycled out all my CRT computer monitors back in 04 or so. My main system has a 27" 16:10 LCD (16:9 sucks for computer displays). I don't watch much TV, so I only recently (about 8 months ago maybe) parted ways with my 27" CRT TV in the living room, went from that to a 46" Sony Bravia LCD.

I've had quite a few 55+ inch projection TV's, but sold them off over the years....they were just bragging rights in my late teens and early 20's... Was a waste to have them only to be watched maybe a couple hours a week... I do watch a little more in the winter, football ya know!!
