Chipset problems???

    Chipset problems???

    is there a way to repair or replace a chipset on the motherboard?My daughter was on the computer and out of nowhere the moniter got no signal all the fans were still running.I tried a different video card and stil nothing.The msi 4 led stops at early chipset detection and stays there.


    msi k7n2 delta2 motherboard
    430 watt ps
    windows xp

    Please help

      I assume near the computer, as in the case? She knocked it over?
      Try resetting everything, memory especially. Unpower it, reset the BIOS via jumper, and try booting.

            Yes.

            If your system doesn't have a jumper you could always remove the battery and hold a paperclip across the terminal for 10 seconds to achieve the same effect.

              She didn't knock anything over she was just on aim and looking at facebook.I tried everything you said and still nothing.

                  What brand of PSU did that PC have??

                  I once had a Gigabyte GA-8i848P-G motherboard that did the same thing as that. Computer froze and blanked out on a word document then on restart there was no video on boot, but fans spun.

                  Found out that the Generic DEER brand PSU killed the southbridge because the 5v line pumped out too much voltage due to badcaps in the PSU.
