    Older OS Newer PC

I've been wanting to put Xp on another drive thinking that it would fly on this PC. Its a four core AMD VISION with eight gigs of RAM. Well Xp Home will not install on this thing. It says it will cause damage to the PC. This sucks! Next I up was VISTA. That was a failure too. My VISTA is and upgrade not a full version. Since there is no working copy of Xp on the drive that I was using it also failed to install. Now I'm right back on windows Seven Home Premium. Rat Dude please fix the caps in the title of this post.

Make sure you have the SATA controller in IDE mode. that should take care of that.

If you get a BSOD with text saying that it shut down to prevent damage, that's just generic BSOD text and if it has error code 0x0000007B, it means missing or wrong/bad AHCI driver.

XP don't have AHCI support out of the box unlike Vista and higher!

Thus, you must install XP in PATA-emulation mode, which in the BIOS, is often known as "IDE".

Thanks Guys. I'll try that another day. Today I'm going to try a "Coldie" or two and see if they still make me sick. Chemo and/or the Cancer screwed up my beer drinking for sure. Maybe I should just smoke pot. I will not be doing that because I don't even like the stuff and I think that it is still illegal here unless you have a Doctors card for it.

There might be AHCI drivers for XP from HP or AMD. You will need to find a floppy drive or make a Windows installation CD containing the drivers.

Also, Windows 7 won't like having the SATA controller switched to IDE mode. I think you can remove the SATA controller drivers before switching to IDE mode and Windows will install generic drivers after rebooting. Of course, reinstalling Windows will also fix it.

              Or Nvidia/VIA/whoever made the controller.

If it's an AMD Vision, then it's an APU (Socket FM1/2). VIA and nVidia don't make chipsets for those.

                I fixed the title too.

Win Seven has nothing to do with this. The Win 7 OS is on my main drive which is not hooked up while I'm doing this Xp thing. I have another drive for the Xp. Its a Seagate Barracuda, 7200rpm, 80 Gbytes, Sata drive. Dang I'm a mess this morning. I didn't go out for a beer because of this headache I've had for days. I took a dose of fiorinal with codeine to kill off my baby migraine. It worked but now I feel toasted.

I seem to recall a way around the upgrade thing on Vista... something along the lines of installing it in demo mode (without putting a key in) then reinstalling with the same media as an "upgrade" and using the upgrade key.

                    Details here:

In a Beelink GTR mini PC, mine has an Intel AX200NGW WLAN module.

                      Tried (only with keyboard/mouse connected):
                      • BIOS + database update
                      • Using latest Windows 11 image built with official image creation tool

                      • Replacing SSD without a slow block (the previous SSD had a slow block with access time > 500 mS)
                      • TPM reset (worked to the point where DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG error message is displayed briefly after the point of stalling)
                      • Disabling power to WLAN and LAN modules in BIOS (Advanced > AMD PBS > PCI Express Configuration)

                      Hi All.

Sorry ahead of time for the text wall. This is a strange problem and I have tried to explain it as best I can. I realise this is a hardware forum (mostly), but I am still not sure if this is even a hardware fault! I am hoping that someone more knowledgeable than me in the area of understanding installation logs, or someone that has had a similar issue in the past may have some ideas of what might be causing this.

                      The issue:
Unable to do a clean install of any macOS versions supported for this model, even after fully erasing and formatting the internal SSD,...

MacOS: R|W Programmers like CH341x BINs..?
                      by TrumanHW
For years I tried figuring out how to R|W BINs from my CH341x programmer.
From FTDI's pkg, Apps specifically claiming they work, I failed for ~8 years.

I'd expect many here figured it out (easily), but in case not ...
It's one of the few forms of "how-to" remuneration I can GIVE BACK.

                      by acedogblast
I have finally found a source for Intel's BE200 wifi soldered "1216" sized modules (not the larger 2230 removable M.2 modules) and I was wondering if it is possible to swap the older AX2xxD2W wifi 6/6e with this new wifi 7 module on a laptop. Supposedly both the BE200D2W and the older AX2xxD2W chips use the standard "M.2 1216 footprint" but with an additional inner-ring of pads. We have schematics of various laptops that use the AX2xxD2W chips on this forum. What we need is a schematic of a laptop that uses the new BE200D2W to check if the pinout is identical or not. Do anyone...
