I would, but I don't have a use for all the machines I'd end up with, and most of the computer illiterate population can't get their head around the fact that IE is not the only web browser, and that M$ Word is not the only word processor.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Not immediately, but a large portion of the repairs that come my way for for malware problems. using an unpatched ans unsupported OS isn't going to help at all, so I generally encourage people to retire anything that can't at least run 7.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

Re: Windows XP EOS plans
The customers I sell these low end XP machines too do not care about Malware nor are they looking to make their system like Fort Knox.
They just want something to do email, surf the web and let their kids infect it with shit from all the links they click and not screw up their real computer.
I set these up with a restore partition so when it gets all nasty they can just revert it back to a fresh install and bang its like new again.Comment

Re: Windows XP EOS plans
Bah, I keep meaning to ponder a new os, my only xp machine is an old hp I keep around as an archive, been so long since I powered it up the cmos battery died. It would run 7 okay but I already have windoors 7 activated on two motherboards... (don't tell Bill!)
Also it runs some pretty proprietary programs that I have no idea how I originally set up, and doubt they would run on Linux...My blog, for those interested in physics, engineering, and teardownshttp://www.spectrhz.wordpress.com

Re: Windows XP EOS plans
Same here... Most of my old laptops run it. Many have ATI gpu's (read: shitty linux spport) and I don't have $ for more 7 licenses. And Vista? Probably not (although it wasn't that bad).sigpic

Re: Windows XP EOS plans
I'll be saying goodbye to XP64 on my main rig probably this week....to be replaced with server 2008 R2. My office machine said goodbye to XP64 about 3 weeks ago, loaded with server2003, which is supported for another 1.5yrs. Server additions of windows are very tweakable for desktops without all the bloat/eye candy + a few extra bells & whistles if you like to tinker with web and database servers.
I'll still have several XP machines around the shop though...<--- Badcaps.net Founder

Re: Windows XP EOS plans
I only have one system running XP still and that's due to hardware that's quite a bit of money to replace, such as my USB to SCSI adapter which has no drivers for anything newer than Windows XP (won't even install on 7 32-bit or 64-bit).
Pretty soon I'll probably need a desktop as well as I don't believe Tektronix's Wavestar program will run on Windows 7 or 8, I'll find out whenever I get a HP-IB adapter.Comment

Re: Windows XP EOS plans
user you'll be very happy, and you don't have to deal with malware virus and stuff, so you don't have to spend a red cent and still have an outstanding OPS,depending on you machines you can choose the best Distro for your machines.

Re: Windows XP EOS plans
Not exactly. That's where your age/immaturity are showing through a little. When you do this professionally/commercially, you do what's in the best interest of the business, it has nothing to do with 'fanboy-ism' or making some innuendo political statement against the big bad microsoft. on older OEM/big brand stuff (like Dell, HP, IBM, etc) that has COA's, I install whatever COA is attached to the machine, whether its XP, Vista or 7. If its a custom with no COA or old enough to be a pre-XP system, I'll do Linux and offer the customer Windows if they want to pony up for a license for it..... Nice try though! The vast majority of the general public dont know what Linux is, and give you a blank stare when you tell them a machine is not loaded with Windows.....so stop and think for a minute, what will sell faster when dealing with the unenlightened public? A machine with XP or a machine with Linux?

by japlyticIn a Beelink GTR mini PC, mine has an Intel AX200NGW WLAN module.
Tried (only with keyboard/mouse connected):- BIOS + database update
- Using latest Windows 11 image built with official image creation tool
- Previous setup version for Windows 11 installer
- Replacing SSD without a slow block (the previous SSD had a slow block with access time > 500 mS)
- TPM reset (worked to the point where DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG error message is displayed briefly after the point of stalling)
- Disabling power to WLAN and LAN modules in BIOS (Advanced > AMD PBS > PCI Express Configuration)

Hello Guys,
got an Acer here with the problem that when i'm installing windows it just crashes (turns off) and not going back on as soon as i press the power button.
I've tried it with different sticks and windows versions and also with windows 10 and 11 but it's the same problem.
The only difference is that when i want to install windows 11 it crashes during the installation screen when "getting files ready for installation" at 25% - 30% progress and
when i install windows 10 it goes trough until the restart and at "getting devices ready" it... - Loading...
