With its (unsually powerful too) 5000+ CPUs, I think the Earth Simulator could fuel really quite an impressive, full-immersion, tailor-made, porn experience. Until Organic VR or Holodek-style technology exists, that's probably about as good as it's going to get for us men.

and well you know the japs so its gonna be some goddamn wierd porn and anime porn.....

anyway.....what was curious is that they went so proprietary with the system. definitely it is something incredibly powerful.

It is quite amazing, particularly considering how its listing in the "top 500 supercomputers" dates back to June 2002, yet it still holds a position in the top 10. http://www.top500.org/site/history/2101

What I always found most impressive was its tremendous ratio between measured "score" and number of CPUs - it would be interesting to know what kind of architecture those NEC CPUs are based on.

Even with such massive computing power, predicting the weather is still probabilistic business. We have a small cluster in my uni. IBM Blade's I think. The room is maintained at about 12C. Can you imagine the about of power being consumed?

I'd like a " how to move the huricane" program.

...I'd love to see THOSE folding for us...
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.
Why I don't buy cheap cases!
