Re: Get Firefox 10 on PowerPC macs
HTML5 isn't much faster. I think that everyone should use the computer's built-in media player like they did 12 years ago. The resolution and quality of most videos hasn't improved in 12 years (except on sites that force everyone to watch HD videos), but now a Core i3 struggles to play them while a Pentium II would have had no problem playing the same video 13 years ago. A Pentium 4 can play HD video in Windows Media Player, but the same computer can't play a 320x240 Flash or HTML5 video.
No, it is so slow that it requires powerful hardware.Comment

Re: Get Firefox 10 on PowerPC macs
as I said BEFORE. If you run it under win7 on a core i5 or a AthlonII x3 with 2 gigs of ram decent dx9 graphics, it run REALLY smoothly. I said that like 3 times before. HAVE you actually ran ff 10 in this kind of environment? or are you still stuck with XP? Nothing wrong with XP, but it don't take advantage of newer hardware like 7 does. Don't even mention vista BTW. I even though its NT 6.0 and 7 is NT 6.1, they run VERY differentlyCap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/

It runs slick as snot on my home system as well. a pair of quadcore e5520's with 24gb RAM, and yup.....XP Pro x64. I also have FF10 on a Dell GX745, 2gb RAM and a pentium-D @ 2.8, XP Pro 32 bit this time...in which also runs it fine.<--- Badcaps.net Founder

Re: Get Firefox 10 on PowerPC macs
Waterfox works great on my Lenovo laptop with a Core i5 CPU, 6GB RAM, SSD, and Intel graphics...
Waterfox is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than the normal Firefox... if you've got a 64-bit OS I would HIGHLY recommend it...
Maybe this thread should be renamed to "Interesting Firefox 10/11 discussoin" instead of "Get firefox on PowerPC macs"??Comment

Re: Get Firefox 10 on PowerPC macs
Well, i'd still be using Windows 98SE if it would actually work on modern hardware, but that's a different topic entirely...I'm fine with Win7. And Opera. Take that.
My only opinion about the current Firefox, since i haven't been watching its development for years, is that they started incrementing version numbers way too fast lately. Maybe that's why all the new crap that old users end up hating - we have a new version number, we have to put something new and different in it!Last edited by Th3_uN1Qu3; 03-18-2012, 06:47 PM.Originally posted by PeteS in CARemember that by the time consequences of a short-sighted decision are experienced, the idiot who made the bad decision may have already been promoted or moved on to a better job at another company.Comment

But both are fast on that computer so it's hard to judge. Opera doesn't seem to do as good a job remembering my logins/passwords, the checkboxes are ugly on websites, the font is rendered too small, and I wish I could disable Speed Dial... but other than that it's a great browser!Comment

Re: Get Firefox 10 on PowerPC macs
Heh, we diverge a bit here. I *can't live* without Speed Dial in my browser! Actually, there's a Speed Dial extension for Firefox too.
I think your text rendering issue has to do with using a Mac. Text has always been iffy in unix-based operating system... They could make it look better (about 3 years back, after 2 days of work i got real nice fonts in Ubuntu, and consistent everywhere), but they just don't bother. I was actually surprised when i found out that text looks just as bad (IMHO of course) on a Mac as it does on a Linux box.
Actually the main reason why i would still choose Windows over other OSes, even if it is about things that all OSes can do equally, it's the font rendering.Originally posted by PeteS in CARemember that by the time consequences of a short-sighted decision are experienced, the idiot who made the bad decision may have already been promoted or moved on to a better job at another company.Comment

Re: Get Firefox 10 on PowerPC macs
Generally, I've noticed that Linux-based OSes (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.) have shitty font rendering...
Mac OS X is significantly better but still not great. Firefox and Safari and Chrome do it the same, Opera noticeably worse.
Windows is very good at it! Crisp, but not pixelated. I agree with you though
Firefox is introducing something within the next few versions, like on Chrome (Frequently visited pages on New Tab page) but I hope it can be turned off, because I like my New Tab page clean...
How do I disable Speed Dial in Opera?Comment

Re: Get Firefox 10 on PowerPC macs
Took me exactly 10 seconds to google: http://www.yourdigitalspace.com/2011...a-web-browser/
The Opera Configuration page has a ton of cool stuff in it. Of course, you can easily break the browser if you don't know what you're doing, but i think you knew that already.Originally posted by PeteS in CARemember that by the time consequences of a short-sighted decision are experienced, the idiot who made the bad decision may have already been promoted or moved on to a better job at another company.Comment

Re: Get Firefox 10 on PowerPC macs
Yeah it's called laziness :P
Edit: Couldn't find a download link of the 64-bit so I just installed Opera Next (alpha 12), and made it look more like Firefox by disabling the loading bar in the address bar and making the new tab page blank.
I like it... but I'm going to continue using Waterfox as my main browser because I have no reason to switch to Opera given that Waterfox works wonderfully for me...Last edited by shovenose; 03-18-2012, 08:19 PM.Comment

by HondamanNow that I have your attention:
In the last few days, it looks like Firefox has changed their software terms so they are now evil and WILL sell your data.
I already use Palemoon for Win7 sometimes. Looks like I'll be switching to librewolf as well, as Youtuber Louis Rossman suggests. Palemoon still supports Win7, but sometimes pages don't work properly. The Google Chrome browser might also still work for Win7.
I will have no choice but to upgrade my Firefox, so that I can copy dozens of tabs into a document or spreadsheet, or go through the history to...-

by amigo744Hello,
i have an 55cx9la tv fully functional.
furthermore i have a new mainboard from newer model oled 55cs9la / cs series.
Both Mainboards look the same and the connectors to the t-con board and psu are also the same.
Only one connector which leads to the wlan/bluetooth and power led is different.
Anyone here, who tried to upgrade lg cx series to newer cs series ????
Is that possible ?
How to power on the tv for test purposes without plugging in the power on/bluetooth/wlan connector, because it is different and does not fit... -

by nickgronkJust picked up an iMac powerpc for $1 at auction. changed pram. This is working. Problem, barely any sound. I have everything cranked up in software, reset nvram/pram - nada. I do get sound ONLY if I plug in a powered speakers in headphone port. I do not get the startup bong.
I get almost no sound with normal headphones. I mean, you can barely hear it. Took the board out and by eye found these 2 inductors broken. Not sure if they are for sound. Speaker is also plugged in and I tried a normal pc speaker in its place - still zilch. Are these inductors the culprit?
I cannot find any schematics... -
