I've seen 'that guy' advertising GP caps as low ESR Motherboard caps.
Found incorrect data [ESR/Ripple] in some some of his ads too.

One package I got from him was full of smashed caps because he ships internationally in bags instead of using a box. He did replace them but I had to wait for my order twice.
I realise that he does sometimes get specs wrong, so you have to know what series to get, which, for you, me and many others here, isn't a problem.

I've not had a cap get smashed during the shipping from him, but I do agree that using a bag for overseas freight is a bad idea.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

That doesn't make much sense to me though.
I mean, I don't know Chinese either but if you gave me a product with a Chinese word on it and a computer with the Chinese character set I would be able to match them up even if I had no idea what it meant.

I don't know the laws involved but I'm guessing if they copied the Rubycon name exactly they could get into much more trouble - than if they made something which looks the same at a glance but on closer inspection is clearly not the same.

That theory may be completely wrong, too...

The photo doesn't show enough of the side to see if the dash is there or not.

The size of the V was a Sanyo thing.
          That's a Suncon cap.
I dunno how much of Sanyo's policies Sunco stuck with.

Why don't you send the photo to Suncon and ask them instead of guessing?

It's showing about as much of the side, as in the lowest Suncon example, so the dash should show. Why shouldn't they continue the V-thing, when they are showing that in their official design sample?

Yeah but there's no shadow on the side from a cap next to it.

with all that discussion going on here, i think i'm gonna risk it and buy a 10pcs pack or something just to see what i get.
                  maybe even the 20pcs one.

                  10pcs are 3.95eur
                  20pcs are 6.32eur
both with free shipping.. so i won't loose much..

Yeah, except out of his stock you might get all Sanyo and that won't answer anything.

Replacing Fake Sanyo's in a SMPS
                      by jayjr1105
I have a cheap chinese T12 soldering station that I really like and use a lot. It has (clearly) fake Sanyo WG caps (1000uf 35v) on the secondary side that I'd like to replace with authentic caps. What should I use?

They are 10mm width but could probably squeeze in 12mm caps and they are super short for a 1000uf 35v cap but I could probably fit 30mm max height.

It also has an unpopulated spot so I assume 3 good ones can make up for two. I have some KZE 35v 680uf. Even with three would I be okay on capacitance?...

                      Fake Caps in Xbox 360
                      by Galraedia
I decided to take one of the Rubycon capacitors out of a phat Xbox 360 with a Zephyr motherboard and noticed that all the Rubycon capacitors near the CPU were fake. The capacitors in question are Rubycon MFZ 680uf 6.3V and they all have a bullseye bottom, something not found in genuine Rubycon capacitors. None of them were leaking, they all have the K top, and the system has never been opened before. It appears Microsoft was using fake capacitors in the Xbox 360, or the Chinese facility where the console was manufactured in was using them and passing them off a genuine. Just thought I'd share...

Mystery 80s Sanyo cap - perhaps polymer?
                      by cj_reha
Hey all I've been working on a 1984 Sanyo 27" color TV which had a smattering of bad caps in the video switching circuit. I found this oddball little 1uF 25V cap which looks to me like an early polymer, but I can't find concrete info proving it. I know Sanyo was a big player in early polymer cap development and this is the time period where they were just getting on the market, so I'm wondering if anyone has crusty old datasheets that could help identify it and determine if my suspicions are right? It has the same epoxy end seal and font/formatting as some old stock Os-Cons I've got laying...

                      Sanyo DP5834 - Gray Screen
                      by toddw65
                      Hey All,

I have a Sanyo DP5834 that did have an issue with the backlights, but I disassembled the unit and repaired the LED strips by resoldering all of the connectors. Now I've reassembled it and I have backlights and sound, but a grayish screen. I can tap on the screen and see that it's on, but no picture. All voltages seem to be correct on the power board.

Based on the LCD Flat panel TV troubleshooting guide by Bud Martin, I'm thinking the T-Con has failed because I'm getting 12v both into and out of FP1 on the T-Con. Am I on the right track?

                      Thanks,...
