Is the Panasonic FC suitable for this circuit?

    Hi Guys,

I'm almost finished building a PLL Transmitter, but wanted to pose a question to the experts here before continuing with the build.

I used Panasonic NHG general purpose Capacitors everywhere where Electrolytics needed to be fitted, but for C68, C69, and C70 in the area I'm pointing at with the pen, I'm thinking about using some Panasonic FC as these are the only Cap's I have left; I believe they're low ESR.

I also plan on using one in parallel with the output of a 7805 regulator, as I believe low ESR are ideal for power supply applications - but I might be wrong. Can anyone confirm?

So, are the FC series suitable in these parts of the circuit, or shall I just order some more NHG or alternative general purposes Cap's?

What's the worst that can happen?

    Many thanks in advance.

The FC are better than the NHG so as long as the lower ESR isn't a issue in your circuit you should be fine. I see nothing that should be a issue with the lower ESR based on the provided schematic. Others may see something I don't so please get other opinions.

I think you will be ok with the FC they are not particularly low esr just better than a GP cap. Worst that can happen - you have to replace them later if someone comes up with a definite reason for not using them.

If you can find a datasheet for the IC they are nearest to it may say on it that the caps should
be or not be low esr.

        Thanks for the replies Guys.

I've posted another image of the schematic, and although the quality of my camera phone isn't too good you can still make everything out.

Again, the pen is pointing to the area in which I'm planning on using these low ESR Panasonic FC Cap's - and the IC's that they're mostly connected to are IC4 which is a 74ALS74, and IC5 which is a 74HC4059E; A CMOS flip flop and CMOS divide by counter respectively.

The Capacitors are in close proximity to transistors, and one of them looks like it's sole purpose is for timing as it's connected between the base and emitter of TR13.

            Hi mate,

The documentation, schematic, and build instructions are here under "PLL Pro 3", the 4th link down (16MB) as far as I'm aware - http://www.gareth.net.nz/nrgdocs/

There is actually a part kit available on eBay UK as we speak, and that's where I've bought mine from.

If you have no success at the site above, just PM me and I'll send a scan of my build instructions, etc'.. via eMail.

I'm about to finish building my 2nd one, and have just commenced building a Pro IV latest version this evening - I'm about 50% into the build.
These NRG kits have a good following in the Pirate Radio scene, albeit they're quite large.
I was going to put one on air for an hour or two, but always bottle it - and instead use it into a dummy load as an "all house" transmitter.

I picked up a Panasonic NH-P70G2, though it would apply to the NH-P80G2, NH-P70G1 and NH-P80G1 models as well, as maybe some other models. This one was coming up with a H86 error. After lots of testing and googling it was an error with one of the thermistors in the condenser area.
The attached French service manuals is incorrect, TH11 is gray and is a 95k thermistor and TH12 is black and is a 35k thermistor.
In my case TH12 was bad. I was able to get a 35k thermistor on AliExpress. It's 6mm in diameter.
Unfortunately the whole machine has to come apart to fix it.

Fixing the Charge Circuit of the Batteries of the DC Motor
                  by Astonished
                  Hi friends of electronics

What you see in the video and pictures attached is the circuit for charging the batteries of a DC motor.

The problem is that this circuit cannot charge the batteries (3 1800mAH NiMH batteries) any more. When the circuit was OK, its green LEDs lit up one at a time to show that the batteries have charged more. But now that the circuit is flawed, LEDs light up as you see in the video and at the same time successive beeps are heard.

Please help me fix this circuit.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
                  by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Dick Smith Q-1760 linear power supply filter capacitor question
                  by Agent24
I have acquired a used Dick Smith Q-1760 power supply - although the OEM is Manson Industrial
It has at least one problem.

The voltage control potentiometer VR2, 50K is faulty - going high resistance / open circuit in the CCW end and leading to the output voltage jumping around.
I have already ordered a replacement potentiometer, so that's not an issue.

Now, I want to replace all three electrolytics on the PCB as they are CapXon and I don't trust them so much, I will replace them with something better while I've got the thing apart anyway.
                  All are CapXon...

                  Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
                  by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...
