I have in front of my an older socket 7 board that I killed by scratching a trace around the CPU socket. It has 11 Rubycon YXG 1000uf 6.3v in 8mm diameter. Harder to find in 8mm, but are they worth pulling considering their age?

If you want a somewhat better measure of comfort, charge each cap to ~6V through a 1K resistor and leave it connected to the P/S for an hour or so. This is what the cap mfrs recommend for caps that have not been used for a year or two.PeteS in CA
Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.
