Re: Computer fan noise and maintenance
I have tried graphite on a desk fan that I sometimes use to cool my ram when overclocking it. I couldn't get much in the bearing, most just came out and made a mess. So the result is it stayed quiet for a day or two then I went to oil. Someone else could try graphite on a smaller fan....

Re: Heatsink fan replacement
stretch, have you tried peeling back the sticker on the center of the fan to put some oil on it. I have done this to several case fans and my northbridge fan and now they are working well. Can't remember the name of the spray lube I used on them, but I believe it's the stuff with teflon.

Re: nVidia 680i Mothbaord with Samxon Caps
I would rather have another IDE connector. I don't even use any pci slots on my albatron, two pci slots would be good enough for me. I think it needs at least one more slot because of sound cards, capture cards and other stuff.

Re: Would these old rubys still be good
sure I think it's worth the hassle. You never know when you might need them. I would put them it a board but away from the cpu cause that is a high heat area; sorry if I just stated the obvious.

Re: mutiple videos on dvd
I have never done this because dvd are cheap and I like to get the best quality I can.
But, here is a guide using DVD Shrink, but you also need a burning program.

Re: Whos up on their video cards??
One More thing TC, watch out for that agp bride chip on the top side, it will burn you.
It's surrounded by pink padding and is only on the agp card because the core is ment for PCIe.

Re: Whos up on their video cards??
Stretch I think has that card or the 256mb
A very good deal for both cards.
I have the Sapphire X1600pro agp 256mb. It's the same as the ati version but cheaper.
You got a good deal for the agp, but for the pci-e you can get better cards for about the same price. Like the 6800 GS. For you they're fine but a gamer playing the latest games they might not be happy. You still can play all the latest games just not at highest settings.
One cool thing is the AVIVO it can speed up video encoding if you use the ATI...

Re: Post your system.......
Hey Mikey how good does that ATI X1600Pro run, any heat issues.
I'm looking at Getting the Sapphire version of that card
How is it for games? Can you run alot at max or close?
Does that AVIVO thing work like it should?
If it does is it really that useful.
Thanks in advance...

Re: FINALLY found some Samxon in a retail product...
Dood I don't really think I would increase the power by replacing the caps. I think the output depends on the transistors. What model are your subs because I bet they can take more than that amp can put out (about 175watts). Are you running a 2ohm or 4ohm speaker load. I think it's a nice looking amp from the bottom. Profile is a good but cheap brand of amps, they sell refubs on their website. http://www.profilecaraudio.com/ there are other good brands too.Re: FINALLY found some Samxon in a r...oduct...<br />

Re: JBL CS200.1 blows fuses on power up
Sweet It works with out that one tip36c
I hooked it up to a small speaker and a 12v battery with a light bulb as a resistor to limit possible damage. It sounded fine other than it was all below 320Hz. One thing I did notice was the heat/case was made in 2001 so that's at least 4.5yrs. old
to the repair man
to TC and KC8 helping me also to japlytic.
I'll tell you how it turns out in about a week

Re: JBL CS200.1 blows fuses on power up
how would I Know if something else is wrong
What would happen if I just removed that shorted output.
I think you're going to say it's bad, don't do it.

Re: JBL CS200.1 blows fuses on power up
I didn't give up on it yet, I found that the middle TIP36C is shorted, it is the only one I could find.
I think I should replace all six output transistors because they only cost $1.74 a piece.
$10.50 to fix an amp, not too bad.
What would happen if turn it on with that TIP36C removed and no sub hooked up, could it damage something. It would be for only 3 sec or less.
I just want to test it without that tip36c in, to see if that is the only problem.
Also, what cleaner should I use to clean that dried white...

Re: JBL CS200.1 blows fuses on power up
The caps jbl put in are a custom size because su-scon doesn't have that size on their web and it's a sub amp so sound quality is kind of a non issue for me.

That one output side fet I tested seemed fine but I gota check more of them

Re: JBL CS200.1 blows fuses on power up
Ok I put two 15amp fuses, I measured .5volt dc when it is just plugged in and not on
Turned it on 2-3 volts DC came out speaker terminals.
I really don't think its the ricer type of amp...

Re: JBL CS200.1 blows fuses on power up
Thanks much for all your replys
K8: so what you're saying is the output stuff is shorted cause too much draw on the power supply then that blows the fuse.
Also could you or someone point out were the boost converter is. I think the boost is the two coils. I'm not shure the path the power takes and what is part of the power side or the output besides some or all of the tranistors
Where would I get all the transistors from.
for testing I will use this as a guide http://www.bcae1.com/ampfail.htm...

Re: JBL CS200.1 blows fuses on power up
Thanks a whole bunch for your replys
It never got wet so all that crap is from the factory.
The big caps are SD 105C, small dark blue are SL 85C, light blue SN 85C
It has less then 30 hours by me, but it is a refurbished unit.
Is it really nessarsary to replace the caps
