DFI-Street is no more but there is a new forum.

Because of lack of $upport from DFI the plug was pulled on http://www.dfi-street.com/

This seem to be the new forum http://global.dficlub.com/

Word is that DFI is going to move away from the consumer market for mainboards. No sure how true this is but it is the rumor.

thats strange. why not find funding elsewhere. things can change and evolve. think cusl2.com > asusboards > abxzone. anyway i have no idea whether it was a good forum or not.

and what the new forum couldnt afford a vbb license

Oh noo, that was such a good forum, I am sooo sorry to see it go, will be sure to e-mail DFI and whine about this!

@Will; it had paid support staff from DFI working there and helping users with problems etc... It really was a great forum and a really good reason to get a DFI board vs any of the other shit brands with no support at all or only Chinese speaking monkeys following a basic error chart...

That rumor has been around for a while now... I remember hearing it as far back as ~ Late 2005.

Yea, there really hasn't been any good products from them in 2006

Their nForce4 boards where great (DFI Expert) but after that...

For what they charge for a main-board you'd expect a couple of the booth girls from the computer shows to be included with the motherboard & be your indentured servants for the life of the board...

I had heard 2 differing rumours...

                  1) DFI-street's owner & Admin' had been overly critical of recent ULi chipset implimentations & their respective platforms &

                  2) DFI are currently restructuring their US support dept.

Either way, the site had helpful resourcematerial for DFI enthusiasts abound!

Sadly, their new forum uses phpbb, which is supposed to be a script-kiddo's dream come true. How about forking out a bit for vB?

                      PHPBB =

This forum started out as PHPBB..... Lived and learned, we utilized it for about maybe 6~8 months or so..... Too many bugs, too few features, zero support, and yes, script kiddie paradise. I'm sure some of the veteran members remember those days.... lol Goodbye phpbb, hello Vbulletin! vB isn't that damn expensive, and well worth it! As for DFI, I was never a fan of their boards, so meh on that topic.

                        Experiences on New Laptop Mainboards
                        by caspian
                        Dear Forum Members,

There are many non-authorized sellers who sell spare mainboards for laptops. The question is how do they provide these mainboards?
It is possible that some of these mainboards were defective working mainboards that were set to be recycled in the factory, but they were sold as spare mainboards. It is also possible that some of these mainboards were defective working mainboards that were replaced by a new one so that the old one was sold as a spare mainboard.
Defective working means the mainboard still works but it has some minor problems. In the...

How long were the displays on consumer-grade 1980s-era LED clocks designed to last?
                        by ClockChip
Does anyone know? A recent thread has got me wondering if the folks who designed and built consumer-grade LED clocks in the 1980s ever envisioned them still being used in the 2020s or if they were designed to give out (i.e. planned obsolescence) long before then?

Perhaps a better way to phrase this would be: does anyone here still use a 1980s-era clock as a daily timepiece? If so, do you expect to get many more years out of it?

(Along those same lines, if it does eventually develop a fault, are you likely to try to fix it?)

How are "consumer" home "cloud" devices set up?

I don't know if I can call them "NAS" or whatnot, definitely not simple USB storage...

Can you access them from the internet? How does it do name service? Automatic NAT? Requires the manufacturer's website to access your home device?

On the home network, do they show up as Windows shares? DAV shares?

If it's not what you want, what do you prefer? Assuming your home network is serviced by a NAT router... do you *want* to punch holes in your NAT router to access your...

                        Brand Interchangeable mainboards?
                        by kalemaroni
I have a Luxor TV with white screen and searched eBay for the mainboard model number and bought it. The white screen persists so I ordered another board in case the first was bad. Same problem.

I then realised that the boards were from Toshiba TVs. Are mainboards from different brand TVs compatible as long as they are the same board number or do they have to be from the same brand TV?

                        Vizio D50u-D12 damaged mainboards?
                        by papillon
Hi, I am troubleshooting a damaged Vizio TV (D50u-D1). Here's an overview of the troubleshooting I did with the unit when it was presented to me:
                        1. TV powers on and back lights turn on, with normal brightness. The large Vizio logo is displayed. After a few moments (presumably when the TV is looking for inputs), the backlight turns off and the TV goes dark. No further message is displayed on the TV. Since the logo was displayed, I concluded that the power board, LED driver board, screen, LEDs and T-con board were all working fine.
                        2. Although parts of the main board were working fine, I'm assuming
