looks to be the same as cp813, could probably go up a little in voltage.

Thanks very much for your reply

Checked through my power supplies & found one with an almost identical part of circuitry .

      Cap used was a 470PF

After replacement powered the module in stand alone , PFC at 390V & chopper secondary supplies also seemed good

Fitted back into TV yet still no power & PFC drops to 100V .

Disconnected everything from PSU , but again but PFC stays low .

Suspect the violent demise of CP810 has caused some other issues or at least weakened some associated components .

Oh well , not an easy life .

wonder if it messed up that diode or transistor on the heatsink next to it?

Would most likely need to replace FET next to cap , plus drive chip .

Don't have any of them in stock .

yep, prolly got that fet/transistor bad, maybe test it out of circuit.

can't remember things but seems like there must be a way to test the ic related to that fet.

Probably easier just to order one a replace it .

Cheap enough , only downside is the wait from China .

I hear that, sometimes I try ebay, i know it's a crapshoot, might get junk, only thing to do is go by buyer feedback I guess.

To be honest , had my fingers burnt several times buying components from random Ebay seller .

If i have to buy outside of the UK , or Ebay , i only use trusted sellers that i know source quality parts .

yep, after once bitten, I started checking out their reputation real closely, it's a shame but you gotta be cautious of the new sellers, because there's so many fly by night, hit and run scammers out there.

Set going out with a replacement board .

I will repair original in my own time when parts arrive .

                        Can confirm CP810 is a 470PF

                          Hi,

Back after a long hiatus with some old power supplies that need repairing. I've recently picked up a couple of 386SX systems, two 486DX systems, a SiliconGraphics Indy and an iMac G3 that either have verified leaking capacitors in their power supplies, or are likely to in the near future. For the sake of simplicity, instead of tackling all at once, I'm starting with the 386's and one of the 486's.

The 386's power supplies are Seasonic SS4040A's, with caps that are visibly leaking, and 9 replacement caps per unit are required. Most appear to be from the Rubycon...

                          All,
I recently purchased for a colleague and myself two used HP Docking Stations. They are for home use and are exact model as the ones we use at work for our laptops. We are both Software Developers.

Anyways these docks are HP Model 5TW10UT#ABA.

Unfortunately they did not come with there Power supplies (PSU) and I got them reasonable from eBay.

I purchased 2 new from Amazon After Market Power Supplies(PSU). Same Voltage and Same Amperage and in fact it mentions on the Amazon page they are supported for these docks as well.

                          Hi everyone,

I'm new to this, so I apologize for not providing enough details. Is there anything else I need to mention? I'm trying to learn more about electronic/board repairs and hopefully fix my own.

The only visible issue on my board is one capacitor, CP813, which appears to be labeled R 221k 2kV (possibly obsolete to B 221k 2kV now). My monitor hadn't shown any prior issues, although it is a few years old. Just before the capacitor popped, there was a high-pitched squeal for 2–3 seconds.

I don't see any other visible damage anywhere else on the board....

                          Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone in the forum can tell me how they use the variac transformer to check a switch mode power supply that they had just repaired.
I wanted to know how they adjust the votlage, do they start from zero and turn it up slowly or rather switch on that about 60V ac ( My country we use 220V ac) and hope for the best.
Also what sounds the PSU should make, what sounds wrong etc. Also if i have a scope what can i check for.
The reason why i am asking is i have a Sony LED TV PSU whose PFC circuit shorted out and upon closer inspection a...
