    Sharp LC80UH30U Vertical Band

    Hi all,

I just moved to a new apartment and now I got a vertical band on my tv. The band is changing colors all the time. Is there a fix for this? If someone has had the same problem and fixed it I would really appreciate the help as I am retired and on a fixed income and cannot afford a new tv.

I can change any boards and bad caps but I'm not good with a volt meter.

Thank you very much for any assistance.

I would say you are screwed. Looks like a panel problem.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Thanks for you reply. I was hoping for a little less than a single gun salute and burial at sea! Any other opinions?

You could put pressure on that tab and possibly make it work.

I second that, grab the bezel right on that faulty area and give it a squeeze, bezel not the screen.

              Re: Sharp LC80UH30U Vertical Band

First I would like to thank all the badcappers that answered my post.

I finally had some time to take the back off the set and did an inspection for bad caps took off all the connections and reseated them. Also disconnect the tcon board one side at a time. Nothing solved the vertical line problem.

I also tried to squeeze the bezel I even took a rubber mallet and hit it a few times.

I guess that "DSKALL" was correct in his thinking in his original reply

Thanks again it is always worth a try. So now I will chalk it up as one of the great unsolved mysteries!

The vertical band will correspond to one of the the orange flex cables connected to the thin panel boards. There is either a bad connection or a bad chip on film (COF) embedded on the flex. Considered a bad panel and not repairable.

                  Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                  Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

                  Hi all,

70" LED TV is Sharp LC-70LE650U.

Initial problem was horizontal lines and slow motion lurrs on the bottom left of the screen. So I removed both the left and right ribbon cables from the T-con board and tried to clean it with alcohol and when I put it back, this issue appeared. I tried carefully reinserting the ribbon bon cables but same thing. I checked the traces of the ribbon cables with magnifying glass and everything looks good. I cleaned the small jumper ribbon cable on the left side of the screen which cured the horizontal line and slow motion blurs...

Sharp LC19SB24U; red vertical line comes and goes
                  by valvashon
Yes, this is a very old Sharp 19" but I would like to fix it if possible. As you can see from the attached picture there is a single red vertical line.
Yesterday when I turned the set on, it was there for about 30 minutes then disappeared and did not show up again (set was on for another 3 hours or so).
Today it was not there when I powered the set on, then appeared after about 15 minutes. Set has been on for about an hour and it's still there.
From what I have read I'm guessing that this might be the t-con board and not the display itself as it does come and go.

VIZIO M60-C3 Can the vertical line be fixed?
                  by tmhobadcap
I am trying to help my friend to fix his Vizio tv with a vertical line on the screen. The line is on the right side. It is blue/purple on the right side starting from the top. But it only goes to about 3/4 of the screen height (not to the bottom of the screen). It is very obvious when the screen is dark and it is hard to be seen when the screen is bright. Please help....
