    LED Panel repair! COF IC's

So i have been watching a lot of those panel repair videos. Not the one with the bypass method cutting the CKV lines but the videos where a voltage is missing to one of the side COF IC's. This is what happened...
I got in a Telefunken 32" LED TV, when you start up the set the Telefunken logo comes up but soon fades to blue, the whole screen becomes the faded washed out blue. The corners of the LED panel also have black corners. It almost looks like water got into the set but this is not so.
I got the set in the service position. (turned the panel upside down so that i can get to the side COF IC's test points) Connected the LVDS cable to the mother board and then scratched off the insulation on the test point of the COF IC's so that Ii can take measurements.
Now I already googled the COF IC's test points voltages so i knew what to expect.
Switched on and took measurements, I noticed the VGH reading was measuring -8V DC. Took my magnifying glass and inspected the circuit that is inside the glass that goes from the side cof down the side to the bottom COF IC's and behold that circuit was open circuit. I could see little splotches. I dont know how to explain it better but the conductive material had disappeared in several places. So i had to put in a wire. I quickly soldered a super thin wire onto the pad of the side COF IC and supported it with sticky tape glueing it to the glass leading to the bottom and soldered the other side to the VGH test point on the scalar board (Board at the bottom of the screen that is attached with the COF IC's). I reassembled the unit and powered up the set. Voila, 100% image. We went from a scrap set to a profitable repair.
And do you know how many sets like these I have returned or thrown away, plenty..... this is a common problem
Perhaps this helps someone in this forum.
If you have any questions just holler.

Here is the video. Remember that you get a variety of symptoms i you have a voltage missing. From a screen that goes blue, to a dark screen to a screen that flickers like a vertical hold issue sort of.

It's very seldom you get someone that shares their secrets so we should appreciate what is available on boob tube. Even though I don't understand I can make out enough to take instruction. I mean, my mentor is the you tubers. You can't go anywhere in my idiot country and get led repair training because the folks here are terrified if they give out their secrets they will go hungry

at Farasa. Reminds me of bad tab bond contact from buffer board to panel, maybe not. Try cleaning the lvds cable contact pins and same mainboard pins where it plugs in clean the other end too that goes to tcon or buffer board if there is no stand alone tcon, be careful they are delicate, some use iso alcohol and qtip, some use a pencil eraser. Make sure you position them just right when you plug them back in.

I've recently repaired a similar issue on a 4k 42 inch tv. Just look at my reply on the bottom of this thread. it might help you.

                            Hello Community,

As part of an ongoing learning project, I'm trying to perfrom a panel test (where, according to some, you jump 12v to the (Tcon) then jump 3.3V to panel test pin on the FPC connector). For the model I'm testing with, I'm unsure of where the test pin is located (providing there is one). So, I'm after some help to locate it. Here are some shots of the board (note mainboard, Tcon combo board)....

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
                            by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

                            by Glaval
Hello, my Aunt recently gave me her broken Sony XBR-65A8G OLED after getting a replacement. It had a 4x led flash error, a replacement T-con didn't fix the error but with helpful info from this forum I found one of the smd ceramic caps on the panel pcb (C575/C378) on a 24v line was shorted to ground. I removed that cap and the tv turned on without error. It still had a black screen with the original t-con back in it, once I put the replacement t-con in it finally had a picture. After doing a panel refresh it had a very good picture but with a few vertical lines for some scenes. For owners with...

                            by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

                            QN55Q60R Service Menu Panel Help
                            by Storyteller12
I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.

I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.

I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.

the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....
