    philips 55pft5201/79 no power

hiya i got this tv off a rubbish tip, its in excellent physical condition, but no power no led
i popped the back off took the board out and did some probing with a multimeter, i found a bank of 3 diodes on the cold side that all came up short, i clipped one leg off each one and the last one was dead short, the other diodes are no longer short and give a lowish voltage drop of 0.144 and 0.154
the diode i took off read dead short and its an SR5100L

ive ordered this diode an sr5100 its a Schottky but it has no l suffix will it be ok?

im trying to upload pics of the board from my phone but having issues right now but i will upload them in the next day or so as im pretty sure there might be a problem with the mosfet but i need a bigger soldering iron to get it off the board its on a heatsink i have to desolder, i tried measuring it but couldnt appear to turn it on and off while in circuit, but the readings i got confused me

i was wondering if theres any checks i can do with the board out, the fuse is ok the caps look good from inspection
i think the rectifier checked ok but im a novice at this

ok i got one side of the board sorted here it is

i really want to fix this tv, its a huge upgrade for me, im broke and in lockdown in melbourne, im getting a more powerful soldering iron if needed to get the heatsinks off

under the black heatsink is the rectifier and a mosfet, under the silver heatsink is an ic

Usually if there is problem on HOT side fuse would be blown or you would have something shorted.

I would replace that diode and try if it works. Before that you can check smd components on the other side of the board around diodes.

ok ive spent some time on the back of the board and i might have found more issues theres 2 banks of 3 diodes in both banks 2 diodes check ok but i get readings both ways on the bottom diode on each bank,

im gonna have to get better pictures as you cannot make them out in the photos as they are so small, ill do that later

on the top side of the board on the hotside there is a inductor next to a huge grey resistor, im getting 0000 on my multimeter on this resistor in ohms and diode mode is this correct ? i wasnt expecting this, do i have to measure this out of circuit ?
im still waiting for the diode to come through the post
        btw thx for the help

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

            Hi everyone,

Symptom: When I press the power button the power LED lights up for a second and the fan etc spins for a second then the unit turns itself off and will not do the same thing again unless I unplug the power cable for a few minutes then plug it back in otherwise if I just turn the power switch off and back on right after it comes on for a second it will not come on again unless like I said unplug the power cord for a few minutes then plug it back in.

What I have done to try to isolate the issue so far:

The system powers on and stays on with...

Activate power board Philips 40PFH40009/88 tv
            by spantor
            Hello partners.

Could someone tell me how to make this Philips TV source work without the mainboard being connected? The model of the board is EAX65423701 (2.1) and the model of the Philips TV is 40PFH40009/88.
The TV is dead, there is no standby light, however there is a voltage of 12v on the pins ( included 12v VAU ) and 3.2v on the PS-ON pin (see photo) when the power board is connected to the main board. If I disconnect both boards I only get 8 volts on 12v pins. I would like to rule out a fault in the main board by making it work, but so far no one has been able to tell...

Need help pinpointing my short on this board (Lenovo) NM-D351
            by survivalbloke
This is a Lenovo Thinkpad P15s Gen 2 with a board NM-D351. I'm having trouble finding my dead short to ground. I have the area narrowed down after much probing. You'll see in the boardview, there are two coils involved. I removed those coils and verified that that short is not on the mosfet side of those coils. . You'll see an arrangement on both sides of the board of 5 caps and one smaller one to the side. I have removed ALL 12 of these small caps and still have the short. Prior to that I injected at those caps with 1v5a and the short was only drawing 800ma so I could not see anything on thermal....
