  • Re: philips 55pft5201/79 no power

ok ive spent some time on the back of the board and i might have found more issues theres 2 banks of 3 diodes in both banks 2 diodes check ok but i get readings both ways on the bottom diode on each bank,

im gonna have to get better pictures as you cannot make them out in the photos as they are so small, ill do that later

on the top side of the board on the hotside there is a inductor next to a huge grey resistor, im getting 0000 on my multimeter on this resistor in ohms and diode mode is this correct ? i wasnt expecting...

i really want to fix this tv, its a huge upgrade for me, im broke and in lockdown in melbourne, im getting a more powerful soldering iron if needed to get the heatsinks off

under the black heatsink is the rectifier and a mosfet, under the silver heatsink is an ic

hiya i got this tv off a rubbish tip, its in excellent physical condition, but no power no led
i popped the back off took the board out and did some probing with a multimeter, i found a bank of 3 diodes on the cold side that all came up short, i clipped one leg off each one and the last one was dead short, the other diodes are no longer short and give a lowish voltage drop of 0.144 and 0.154
the diode i took off read dead short and its an SR5100L

ive ordered this diode an sr5100 its a Schottky but it has no l suffix will it be ok?

    im trying to upload...

  • Re: tv not turning on, some caps replaced same error

bah sorry its a soniq e40s12a

hmm strange readings on voltage, i just repeated test 3 times and im now getting 203vdc on all 3 mains caps using both chassis ground hole and the ground wire i get same results, im in australia

soon as i fire the set up all 3 caps stop boosting at 270vdc

im putting black probe on chassis red probe to cap leg soon as i flick power to put set into standby the caps boost to 203, then when i turn set on they rise to 270vdc the backlight either flickers once...

  • tv not turning on, some caps replaced same error

hey people happy xmass and new year etc

i have a tv soniq e40s12a that will turn on only sometimes, i checked the green caps and replaced ones that were failing still same problem

i then checked mains filter caps and 2 are 33uf, but the bottom one was only 30 uf, i then checked the voltage across them and i am getting 220dc in standby, which rises to 270v when set turned on which as i understand means there might be a boost problem

total noob here but i have all tools i need to carry out suggestions

i have inked the green caps i changed,...

  • Re: Samsung un65f6400afxza nothing but vertical bars

the lines could possibly be bad panel or bad tcon/cables, or a hundred other things, open the back up take some pics and post them
reseat all tcon cables, unplug the left side of tcon and turn tv on, do same with right side to see if screen corrects itself might even be the mainboard cpu

im learning here just like you so im sure someone will be able to better answer your questions, but in the meantime investigate tcon

vestels patented advanced soldering blob passive heatsinks dissipate heat from failing LEDS prolonging the life of your tv set for at least 3 months

showcased by the LED on the left, while the led on the right is a factory kogan

  • Re: camera advice needed for rookie mistake, blown fuse on mainboard

yeh i got the alcohol just need to borrow me exes toothbrush i managed to get flux everywhere
if the caps are bridged, whats the best way to unbridge them, they are smaller than the point on my soldering iron, would i just remove them with hot air tin the pads and put them back on with hot air ? or is it easier to order the new parts ?, in the meantime im going to check the block diagram on service manual to see if they are linked anyway

  • camera advice needed for rookie mistake, blown fuse on mainboard

hey wassup people, i bought some cheap cameras, the first a sony hx-300 with a known lens error, i purchased a new lens from china for 60 dollars and installed it and tested it while disassembled, it was working, however i left the battery in while i assembled it and now it wont turn on, i stripped it down and found a blown fuse on the mainboard, its the tiniest fuse and i removed it with hot air, i then tried to bridge the pads but they are so tiny i couldnt do it, the sony part for this fuse is 1-576-612-31 and ive had trouble finding it, i got the service manual its a 32v 1amp fuse but im having...

im a noob at this, could ya elaborate, would that mean the tcon needs further investigation, what sends power to the chip and how would i measure that

    thanks for reply

  • samsung white screen replaced as15

    hi people

i had a samsung 40" with totally white screen, i ordered a new as15 from china and replaced the ic, it worked well for an hour but is slowly fading back to white
im gonna open her up again and give the chip another blast from the hot air, but i also have another ic as i ordered 2, but i dont want to waste them if there is something else that could be causing it, also this ic did not have a heatsink or heatpad

any advice i could glean before i carry out the surgery?

  • Re: TCL b2610 powers up, backlights on, sound on, no picture

so i cleaned the ribbon much as i could and the connector and same blank screen, i disconnected the entire ribbon, still same blank screen
i removed the connector with hot air , it looks pretty screwed, anyone know if this is burnt? i also need to know the name of it so i can maybe source a new ribbon and connector, failing that the boards are pretty cheap from china maybe 10 bucks but how hard are those tab bonds to remove with hot air ??? theres 2 to remove,
im thinking this tv is junk but i have the tools...

  • Re: TCL b2610 powers up, backlights on, sound on, no picture

thanks for the heads up dude, while looking for smd fuses on the lower boards connectors i saw what looked like tiny black marks on the back of one of the white transparent ribbon connectors which join the 2 lower boards,

i took the ribbon cable off and it had some gunk or corrosion covering many of the gold pins on one side and clean shiny pins on the other , im almost thinking its some liquid damage maybe thats come through the bezel, the screen was utterly grubby before i cleaned it with rubbing alcohol....

  • Re: LG LN5700 logo flash then dark screen

im a noob too but your problem sounds suspiciously similar to my lg 50inch
i bought mine broken its a 3d smart jobbie, the original issue was it would turn on then soon as i changed channels or volume etc it would switch off, i took it apart overnight disconnected boards etc and it came good for a month, then it started failing to turn on and stay on at night but was sometimes ok during the day, which made me suspicious about its operating temeratures so i went over the powerboard with the soldering iron adding solder to all caps voltage...

ok ive been trying to test the 3 large voltage regulators on the logic board while powered on and im getting really weird readings,
    u103 top rightish of board
    3.2v output
    5v input
    00.70 adjustment ???

    u104 just near tuner
    3.3v output
    5v input
    00.65 adjustment

    u803 middle board among caps
    1.8v output
    5v input
    560.0 adjustment

i will update these pics soon

    hi people

i have here a tcl b2610 39 incher led lcd with a blank screen bl- on and sound on
im a nooby fixing tvs but im learning and reading a lot
this tv has a power board and i think a logic board with inbuilt tcon?? [not sure] and 2 boards on the bottom edge of the screen which i think are led drivers or tcon??
ive gone over the caps on the logic board in circuit with my esr meter nothing fishy there, i checked diodes on the power board and found one reading 0.245 voltage drop off which i thought was slightly low, but power seems fine,so im guessing my next...
