    LC-55P6000U Backlight Working no Picture

Hi guys I'm new here! Found out about the site on youtube after doing a bit of research to help me fix my tv.

So my issue seems to be somewhere on either the t-con board or the driver board. I know this because when disconnecting the right side pin connectors from the t-con board I get half of the tv to work. When I plug the right side back into the t-con board and unplug the left and turn the tv on, I see some light come to the same half of the tv and it fades into just a black screen (with the backlight still on).

What can/should I do to further troubleshoot? Is it worth trying to replace the t-con board? If the problem lies on the driver board is the tv useless?

You need to carefully release the non-working bar (without damaging the cables going to the glass) and ring the ceramic capacitors with a multimeter for a short circuit.

Hi, you don't mention the manufacturer. You can try to remove one at a time the biggest micro capacitors on the bevel board with fault, test the tv after each cap. until you find the one defective, then replace it.

Thanks for the response I'll be trying this soon! Still need to buy a multimeter and some other gear Just to be clear what exactly do you mean by releasing it?

Sorry about that the manufacturer is 'Sharp'. What do you mean by bevel board? Would that be what I referred to as the driver board?

Sorry for my english, i mean the boards attached to tcon and the screen on the bottom border. Testing caps for.short not always reveal a short because it's a non continuous short.

No problem I understand now thanks for clarifying!

Hey sorry so I guess I'm more clueless than I thought when checking for the short on the caps should the TV be on? Also what setting on the voltmeter should I use and what kind of reading should I look out for (am I expecting 0)?

In truth first check in low ohms, for example 200 scale, and if you find at least a 0ohm acros the caps then you have to remove them one by one until the 0ohms gone away, if the short is not explicit, then remove each cap and turn on tv, see if you have image.

Okay so I may have found the short but I'm not entirely sure
                      In this video:
                      https://youtu.be/DSScwnoj4vM
I'm using the setting that makes a noise when it detects a short I believe, and the component I am analyzing sets off the voltmeter (the voltmeter reads 0). But when I switch the voltmeter to the 200M setting and read the component I get a 0.9 reading, so I'm unsure if this is a short?

Is the component I'm checking even a cap or is it a resistor? In the first picture I attached I circled the one I am checking in the video, it has a R25 right next to it (not sure what that means). The last two pictures are the settings I used when checking the component.

                        R denotes a resistor and C a capacitor.

Don't mismatch voltmeter with ohmmeter, the last is for resistance reading, don't measure resistors, it's useless, for the truth you have also to measure eventual diodes in diode mode setting.

Hey so I believe I checked all the caps on the driver board and didn't find any shorts :/
I'm gonna check again tonight to double check, but I don't see any diodes on the driver board or the t-con board?

Not always there are diiodes. Have you pulled out caps one by one ? I think you don't have hot air since you neither had a multimeter.. so what i'm here for? Sboink!

Hi, Bringing up an old thread here. But I have the same TV that was free and have gone through and found the one side that appears to be bad. So is the consensus to check each micro cap in the ohm/resistance scale? Or to test a circuit? How would I find out the capacitance of these micro caps? Are they marked kinda how resistors have bands?
