There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Guy I knew at work told of a hi-volt situation where he had his hand under one board of electronics with all kinds of sharp jabby things hanging down, and he touched a hi voltage connection... his arm jerked his hand back up against all the pins and solder tails whereby it then got jerked back down against the hi voltage. I think he said he slapped it back and forth about 3 times before he could get himself backed out.
He was a good guy.
Thing with hi voltage is to keep one hand securely tied to a pocket. That way you never have the current pass from one arm to the other arm - through your heart. Not good. I work on a table that is not made of conductive material, and so far have not zapped anything by powering up the circuits on the table or on their side. The most worked on set has a sound board standing up on the left side of the chassis that is perfect to hold the chassis vertical. Thing is, solder tends to follow gravity...

Sorry again PlainBill. Since I'm over here on the wild wonderful polluted Atlantic all the other oceans look like lakes to me....LOL Only kidding Mate. I hope to do some fishing out in your lake someday. How many fish has your Grand Son caught in your cement pond?

Hi everyone, I've been troubleshooting my 20" Sony Trinitron (KV-20FV12) CRT after it failed to show a picture. The standby LED is blinking 4 times, which according to the service manual is a failed vertical deflection via the self-diagnostic check during power up.
After getting the TV checked out by a technician and doing research on my own. The most obvious first step was to replace the IC502. I've done so with an exact NOS replacement with no luck. I've read a few suggestions to make sure the 12V supply to pin 2, but that voltage check would seem misleading? It seems if the...
Introduction: Hello everyone, this topic is more of a knowledge sharing and look inside type of post, but for someone working on this model of display it might be useful. Recently I bought Acer Nitro XV273 XB MIIPRZX with busted electronic, but screen was intact, price was incredibly low, so I took a gamble and bought the unit and try to fix it. As I dug inside, I found out that my motherboard was not responding, although all voltages seemed fine. I wasn't able to find any reliable information about this monitor on the web (only some pictures of motherboards from Ebay). By some research...

This is a CRT I sold a few months ago and it's came back with this weird issue. It's intermittent, but not a thermal fault, or tap sensitive - just completely random. The right side of the picture completely blanks out (picture is not shifted). The on screen display is unaffected though, so not a fault in the line section. Anyone seen anything like before in a CRT?
