Just for reference, here is the wifi board that attaches to the main board.

It is the one that has a blue led which glows constantly when the tv is powered to on.

      Re: Thorn 65thl4kst1

OK...weekend is here so got to try some more measurements on this device.

Screen still just goes to backlights.

Now when I measure voltage on the T-con board it measures 7.5 both sides...it was 12v.

Now when connecting and unconnecting the ribbons going to the panel, I was able to get one half screen white and one half black....I can no longer duplicate that image.

The only thing I have disconnected from the main board, is one speaker wire so that I could remove the fittings around the display board area to reveal them.

I have undone some of the bottom of the panel and exposed the display boards and checked the two main ribbons that go from the tcon to the panel, and they sit good etc.

The display panels are in four sections L1,L2,R1,R2...wriggling all the ribbons on these makes no difference.

I am a bit stumped as to why my tcon fuse is now reading 7.5 and not 12?

I did check the readings for the 24 on the led driver board, and they are still correct.

      I don't really know my next move....anyone?

      Cheers

          My apology.

I did mean to mention, that I found another forum to ask for assistance in, and there may be some information on it that may possibly help others, like me, whom were hoping to resurrect their telly.

I am still stuck, so that was why I said "I give up", as I am really just chasing my tail.

I hope that this is suitable to post here, if not, moderator, please remove it.

          Many thanks.

            Hi,

I can't help myself, looking at the tv again.

For the life of me, I cannot work out how to remove the ribbon from the entry into the t-con board.

It appears to be a pull out connector.

Do I just have to grip it and grunt it out?

            Thanks

              Re: Thorn 65thl4kst1

              EDIT

              I got it out.

There were no black lugs on either side of the connector to pinch together to release the retaining clips

I had to put a small screwdriver on each side where the tabs should have been, pinch the screwdrivers in there gently together to release the clip.

Someone advised me to turn the tv on with the tcon removed, then reconnect it all again, to see if it cleared anything, but it didn't.

I cannot help me, and played around again, trying to get some values on the 4 x edge display boards.

As my multimeter doesn't have a beeper, I tried to measure across the smd capacitors.

                I got these readings.

Is this just garbage readings, or could they be of value?

A shorted SMD capacitor will show very little resistance across it, did you find any like that ?

It's unlikely you have 11 capacitors measuring 0 if I'm seeing correctly. Recheck.

Thank you, I will measure again and report back.

It may well be, that some of the reported zero's I made, may in fact not be capacitors at all, but looking via a magnifying glass, I cannot see a difference. Sorry

Here is my camera shot for R1

                            EDITTED

Shot one is top of board, shot 2 next down, and some show other sections. I could post them all, if of any benefit?.

Maybe I have wrongly identified and measured?

                            Thanks

Not reading back through everything but if you still have the TCON connected to the buffer boards a short on one board will appear on the other. You need to disconnect the TCON and see if you only have shorted capacitors on the left or right buffer board.

Why is it unlikely if they all sit on the same bus (connected in parallel with the same voltage), if one is in a short circuit, then everyone will show a short circuit, now it remains to find the culprit.

                                        OK,

Having no faith in myself, this is what I have done.

I ran the checks just now with my meter set at 200 Ω mode.

I had another person check the read outs.

Not touching the probes together, the meter read 1.0

With my two probes stuck on top of each other, the reading fluctuates to 1.3 and 1.5, finally settling on 1.3

I set the meter in place, next to the boards on the panel, still with a reading of 1.0 before I touched anything

I placed the probes either side of the smd's, and every one of them showed a result higher than 1.3, via a quick reading, and then the reading would go back to 1.0

Every one I tested did the same

                                        Does this indicate anything exactly?

Thank you for staying with me.

What has happened to the meter between post #87 where you got some readings and now when you're not ? Is the battery flat ?

                                            Hi All,

So my friend was visiting and he wanted to use my solder bench to solder on some WLED circuit board. My laptop was open on the side for RAM upgrade. I know my mistake.

So while soldering he had too much solder on the soldering iron tip and he just shook off the soldering iron on the table itself to remove extra solder on the soldering tip and it landed on the motherboard of laptop. He then out of fear tried to remove it using solder wick and did more damage by removing some components as well. So here I am with weird situation.

                                            I have not tried putting...

                                            Hello!

I need to change the capacitors on my three original Xboxes.

Two of them are 1.6B revisions and have Hynix RAM, and the other one is a 1.6 with Samsung RAM.

The 1.6 has the infamous Nichicon HM capacitors around the CPU, which have all bulged and started to leak. This Xbox no longer powers on.

The 1.6B revisions have Rubycon MBZ capacitors that all look fine, but I’ll change them in due course. Both of these work fine.

I’ve seen some excellent threads on the forum about replacing/upgrading capacitors, but I can’t...

                                            Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)

Hello, Badcaps is my last resort. I am the first owner of the monitor. I reached almost every repair store in my area, but no one even wanted to hear about troubleshooting an old CRT monitor. At this point, I have been trying to figure it out by myself, but I have no idea where to start or look for.

I wish to know how to think and locate a failing component. I will put all my efforts to learn and contribute.

I have my Intel PC hooked to my Sony X90L television and each time the power is cycled on the tv, the bottom of the PC screen gets cut-off. Only half of the taskbar shows until i go into display settings and cycle the display size and it'll work fine until the next time I power off the tv. I updated the drivers. The graphics is UHD 630.
