Re: No power to old soundbar FW-1316
OK...update time.
I finally did get it all apart....hard to do.
With it all apart, and everything dangling there, I plugged it in, and bingo, it works again.
Whether there was something trapping the power button (didn't feel like it), or perhaps there was a dry joint or trapped wire, I just don't know?
Silly as it is, I'll reassemble it all, and see what eventuates?
Thanks for the help.

Re: No power to old soundbar FW-1316
Sorry for the late reply.
I cannot seem to be able to remove the plastic housing to see more of the power supply, to be able to take a picture.
I have been trying to google some information, a schematic, a video, but so far have been unsuccessful

No power to old soundbar FW-1316
Hi,
I have a really old cheapo soundbar.
I noted today that it would not power on, so I thought I'd open it to see what I could find.
The model number is FW-1316
This board with the led lights, sits above the other one with the grey strap.
I was hoping there may be an internal fuse, but cannot see one.
I have no expertise, so should I try anything, or just junk it?
Thank you...

Re: Philips 50PUS6503 - dead panel? Picture
Try these two threads...sounds like same issue that myself and ruckusman had.

Watch out for those solder drops you can see in the picture, clean the diode pads right down with iso, get rid of any excess solder with wick and iso.
Good luck, as we know the feeling.Re: Philips 50PUS6503 - dead panel? ...ike same issue

Re: Hisense 50P6
I removed the diode chip next to the one previously removed, the tv is back to working in all areas again, no picture problems now.
Special thanks to ruckusman.

Re: Hisense 50P6
Just adding to this, unsure if it should really be a different thread? If so, please advise and I will repost it there.
In regards to these edge boards on tv panels, why do they insist on making them so that they are permanently fixed (bonded) via cof to the panel itself?
On all the other parts of the panel, the tcon, main board etc all use the little clips to undo and disconnect them, so replacements can be fitted.
Why can't the same be done to edge strips? I can understand the strip itself being bonded to the panel,...

Re: Hisense 50P6
I wonder if it is the diode on the same end to remove, or one of the two on the other edge board?
When I tested all four diodes, the one that was removed was the only one showing a fault.

Re: Remove excess solder
Thank you for your reply.
As you can see, I am only new at this, so please forgive the extra questions?
When I removed the chip, all I did was heat up the iron, to remove the chip.
I did not use anything else, and as the solder was melting, I used some tweezers to pull it off the board.
I then got hold of my solder wick tape, putting that on the area, and then tried to soak up the remaining solder left over.
I think(??) at that time, I must have slopped some of the solder off the...

Re: Remove excess solder
Thanks CapLeaker and lotas
It is that type of solder wick that I used when taking off the chip...do I now simply use more with a warm iron?
My worry is that when doing so, that it might try to remove the actual end tips that I require to still stay there?

Remove excess solder
Hi,
Can someone tell me how (or if) I can remove this excess solder?
I made a novice boo boo.
The board is an edge board from an lcd tv, and it connects to the tv panel via a fixed cof strip.
I had to remove a surface mounted multi diode chip (yes I did a bad job) but got some residue solder on the pins when cleaning it up with a ribbon wick.
Can I get that excess off, as I believe it is causing interference to the panel, shorting or something, that effects just a small portion of my image.
Any pointers please?...

Re: Hisense 50P6
Update....
Hi again,
I spent around 2 hours reseating and wiggling all the tcon and cof strips, but I cannot stop that pulsing loss of video on the last bit of the screen.
I did note that when I had my finger on the spot where I removed the D004 chip, that I could feel voltage on my fingertips...like heat.
I took out the solder iron again and used some more solder wick to clean the area, just in case there was still some solder residue etc, but that also didn't seem to stop it.
I'm sort of reluctant...
