    Panasonic TX-40CX400B backlight problem

Hi everyone, I'm new to this technology stuff apart from my school information technology lessons.

I can use a multimeter (only just) and a soldering iron.

Anyway my problem is on the above TV. Power Board model number 17IPS20. When turning it on the screen goes white, no picture or sound, then the white screen goes off. I've checked the led voltages and they are as follows

    When white screen is on
    White wire - 162.6v DC
    Black wire - 0.0v DC

Then when white screen clicks off
    White wire- 79.9v DC
Black wire- jumps to 40v & reduces to 10v DC

Any help would be really appreciated

I can post photos if required

    Thank you for your time

Whats the number in the red box? It looks like ending R9?
Can you give the voltages on the black connector that takes the power drom the power supply to the mainboard

With the set powered off remove the mainbpard from the power supply and connect +5V_STBY to ST_BY using a 1K resistor and also +5V_STBY to BL_ON-OFF using a second 1K resistor then switch on.

If the backlights remain on then it would appear to be a mainboard fault. If they fail then you most probably have a led(s) or led connection problem.

Hi , sorry about the delay in replying, i really appreciate your help, I've looked at the photos I've uploaded and I can't see the red box you mean? I'm going to have another look at this tv soon so I will post clearer close ups later on tonight. I will also give what you mentioned a try and let you know the outcome.

Hi Thank you to all who commented on my thread, I have passed this tv on to someone else as I blew a few components on the power board while trying to repair it, it's a headache for the next person.

Problem with PANASONIC CF53 laptop after changing BIOS settings
                      by AquaMan Ua
Hello. I am asking you for a hint on how to solve the problem with my touchbook Panasonic CF53-2 standart model. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...

iPod nano G3 - alternative soldering point for the white battery wire
                      by Norrecito
                      Hi,

A friend of mine gave me an iPod nano G3 to see if I can fix it for him.

The device had a faulty battery and he tried to replace it but failed. In the process he managed to pull off the pads that corresponds to the white battery wire (marked with a red circle in the images)....from both sides of the PCB. Fortunetely he didn't damage anything else.
This is usually an easy fix HOWEVER, on the PCB, I see no traces coming from the VIA and after searching the internet, I've found no schematics nor boardview for this device. With the pads gone from both sides I seem...

Panasonic TX-24A1UN CRT Sound and Input problem.
                      by hugocarmo
                      Hi.

IΒ΄ve been given an old CRT from Panasonic, itΒ΄s almost new, it was storaged and almost not used since bought.
It is imaculate inside, almost no dust or debris inside.
The picture is good, but I have no left sound channel, I tried all the inputs, outputs, even on headphone jack. In AV2 I hear sound from right channel but no image, on tv tuner only right sound channel, the same for AV1.
So I started to look for a service manual, I found one, and started from the beginning.
Most of the times the caps are the problem so I orderer all the caps for all boards,...

panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television half screen problem
                      by renech
                      hello,
I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
                      I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left...

                      Hi everyone,

I'm new here and trying to repair my Panasonic TX-P50V10E plasma TV, which is currently showing the 6 red blink error code.

Just for context: I'm used to building PCs and installing modchips in old consoles, but this is my first time trying to fix a TV. I'm French, and while my English is okay, I'm using ChatGPT to help translate and clarify my messages as much as possible β€” so please forgive any odd phrasing.

I'm also not very experienced with using a multimeter, but I'm very motivated and ready to follow instructions carefully and report...
