Panasonic TX-24A1UN CRT Sound and Input problem.

    Hi.

I´ve been given an old CRT from Panasonic, it´s almost new, it was storaged and almost not used since bought.
It is imaculate inside, almost no dust or debris inside.
The picture is good, but I have no left sound channel, I tried all the inputs, outputs, even on headphone jack. In AV2 I hear sound from right channel but no image, on tv tuner only right sound channel, the same for AV1.
So I started to look for a service manual, I found one, and started from the beginning.
Most of the times the caps are the problem so I orderer all the caps for all boards, wich I replaced, one by one, not all because I misunderstood some of them and ordered polarized when they were non polarized, of course those I didn´t replaced, but I can say that I have 70% of all boards, with new capacitors, all almost nichicon.
Well, the problems remains, no left sound channel, no image in AV2, only on AV1...
Some of You have any experience with this model? It´s a Alpha 2 Chassis, I will upload some pictures and the service manual.

    Thank You all in advance,

    Hugo from Portugal!!

I would start to poke around that AV switching IC. There are series capacitors and of course that IC itself.

        Hi.

I have some updates about this repair.
As I said I was waiting to receive the original remote that I found online.
After receiving it it didn´t work.
I opened it, tested all components, replaced the two capacitors, and came to the conclusion that was the crystal ressonator that was bad.
It is a CSB420P, I ordered one and after replacing it, the remote started to work perfectly!
The remote has some tracks that are in bad shape, I scraped the lacker and applied new one, I think it will last for a few years!!

Now, the sound problem... I ordered some IC´s, STK4392, AN5836, TDA3803A, M51321P, and PCD8582DP, I found them cheap so ordered all.
After replacement of all of them, I resolved the sound problem.
Now I have sound on both channels, this tv has a great sound quality indeed!
But the AV2 scart input remains with the problem that only sound is heared.
The screen is gray with no picture at all, only sound.
Something curious, when I have AV1 connected if I go to any channel in tuner the image is the same as AV1, is it normal?
I post images and a video in the end of the post.

        Thank You very much!

        Hugo.

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
          by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB (Chassis SR) TV Repair Help - Distorted Subwoofer Sound and overall weird sound waveforms
          by LEECH666
          Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

Reverse engineering of 18650 4-channel tester
          by spleenharvester
          Hi friends

I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board...

Panasonic TH-55AS670A no picture no sound
          by mar1in
          Hi everyone,

I've got this Panasonic TV here with the following symptoms:

          * Standby Light is solid RED
          * Turning on using the Button on the TV (long press) would change LED to blinking GREEN
          * After a couple of seconds, LED is solid GREEN and without picture or sound.

I've tried a couple of things before tearing it apart:

          * Resetting using various combinations of powerbutton and volume buttons pressing down while booting.
          * Activating Self Check according to service manual using IR Blaster (we have no remote unfortunately)...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
          by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
