    Sharp LC-50LB371U

When power is applied, red LED comes on bright, then dim, then flashes slowly.
If I push the power button, the flashing will stop and LED will remain lit. If I push power again it makes a clunk audio sound and LED is off. DIM pin on smps changes from 2.4v to 3.3 volts. PS ON has continuous 3.3 volts if set is plugged in. Pins 15 and 16 measure 0 volts in all states of operation. All pins marked 12V do have 12 volts and GND pins are grounded. At no time does backlight come on. I did find 3.3 volts and 12 volts on the TCON when set was in what I think is ON state.

This Sharp series is notorius for bad leds. Do flashlight test or check leds with a tester.

TV turning on and off with no backlight is a symptom of bad backlights. Think I have done that model before or similar. My replacement strips were a bit off and caused the reflector sheet to shift a bit and pinch on the edge causing a slight shadow. Didn't want to remove the panel again.

How about Voltage on pin 2 O/F (BL-ON)?

            Pin 1 = 2.4V, Pin 2= 3.3V
Flashlight test shows getting started screen.
            V+LED1 = 65V to chassis, V+LED2 = 65V to chassis. V+LED1 = 0V to V-LED1, V+LED2 = 0V to V-LED2.
            LED1 circuit = OL, LED2 circuit = 2.3Mohms

I think the LEDs are shot!

Thanks to all for your assistance.

Has anyone done LEDs on one of these? I have done a 46 but not a 50. Some of them are a real pain to get apart and back together.

I recall it was a pain to do. Double sided tape and lots of screws. Sharps are made by Hisense. One test I do to check the panel is to power the backlight with my tester only and turn on the TV.

Yeah, lots of small screws holding the strips down. Don't replace them with preowned either as you will be back doing it again very shortly. Buy complete set of new ones. Lastly, the screen is probably glued down in a few sections around the edges. See threads on best way to separate it.

Did the flashlight test and saw the set up screen.

                      Hello Sharp TV experts
Our Sharp LC-80LE642U displays one short one long flash error code which is a backlight error. I went into service mode and there were 8 lamp error counts recorded. I reset the count to 0 and did a reset. The last monitor error cause was 16 B00014639:12. 16 is the code for backlight error. I tried to power the tv up but went back into error mode.

                      Sharp LC-58Q7330U No Backlight
                      by Misterfixit
This set has the known reputation of failed led backlights. The set does not turn on, but when plugged in, the power led stays lit for about 5 seconds followed by two short blinks and then it repeats itself. While shinning a flashlight on the screen, you can make out the Sharp logo, then it goes out and repeats the cycle. I measured some voltages across the led backlight connector. What has me puzzled is that when I place the negative lead of my vom on the led backlight pin connector (in which the black wire going to the leds was), I measure as high as -228volts, and then it falls to -95 volts...

un60j620dafxza - Samsung No Display Problem
                      by stylishconsultant
                      Hi All,

                      Need help.

I have a samsung un60j620dafxza led tv. When I plug it in it has no display, no sounds, and no standby lights.

So I opened the tv and disconnected the power to the mainboard and the backlight powered up. This according to many people says that this is a mainboard
problem. I checked the voltage coming from the stb and I read 1.3 volts on pins 1,3,5 and 7 which are low volts instead of 13 volts which i think the lcd panel
might be drawing too much power from the power supply that it prevents the right voltage going to the mainboard....

                      sharp LC-50LB601U No backlight
                      by Misterfixit
I have a sharp LC-50LB601U that has no backlight. It starts up fine, and has sound, however, I can only see the screen using a flashlight. I took the tv back off and measured voltages at the power supply connector CN-8601. As you can see by the picture, the led connector has 2 sets of 2 red wires and 2 sets of black wires going to the led backlights. Between each set of black wires and corresponding red wires, I measure 30 volts (pins 1 and 4) and 30 volts from pins 8 and 12. From ground to each set of red wires ( pins 1 and 12 to ground), I measure 35 volts. This voltage seems very low compared...
