Looking at picking up a 3D TV SONY 65" 4K - XBR-65X900A for $20 and was wondering if it's worth the trouble. It has horizontal lines on the top 1/3 of the TV. Is it fixable?

Re: SONY 65" 4K - Horizontal Line on top
90% the issue at T-CON replacement fix it
10% damage at the edge side of the panel
Taiwanese AUO Panel + T-CON are good unless there external force to issue damage at them.
20$ i will pay you 100 if you brought it to me lol -

Re: SONY 65" 4K - Horizontal Line on top
do the test of one ribbon disconnected at one time.. and call the menu setting... let see how its look.
EDIT: before you start with the test i mentioned above.. you need to take out all ribbon cable out and the LVDS too. inspect them under good magnifier from end to end, you may find damage at the pins contact.Last edited by Diah; 11-28-2020, 01:15 AM.Comment

Re: SONY 65" 4K - Horizontal Line on top
Sorry the damage is 100% panel, unfortunately you have a combination of vertical and horizontal issues so this means bad source and gate drivers, for the vertical bars maybe there a corrosion on board for liquid spill, but i'm not sure since this has not to do with horizontal problem that seems of electrical surge, but if the liquid spilled also at the bevels maybe has ruined the gate drivers, i think 99% is unfixable, but 20$ is so low price, sell the boards..Comment

Re: SONY 65" 4K - Horizontal Line on top
[QUOTE] vertical bars have moved to the left. [QUOTE]
Hey! this is a very good new, maybe the liquid is still liquid and does produces momentary defects not destructive, time to dismantle the screen bezel before the corrosion takes place...Comment

Re: SONY 65" 4K - Horizontal Line on top
i wrote inspect the ribbon cable contact pins under good magnifier if one damage or short or moved to aside..
if they are all fine--- disconnect the LVDS the small one and turn on ( call menu always at any test ).. let see what will show to youComment

by Daren87Hello everyone,
I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the... -
by IhandyrepairHi guys
I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.
never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the... -
by cubytusHi to all,
I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.
I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.
Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...1 Photo01-10-2024, 01:26 AM -
by thelankanguyThe TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?... -
by bbrainHi,
I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.
Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?
Thanks in advance!... - Loading...
