I've been on YouTube a lot lately and think I've watched every video(including Nick's TV) there is regarding factory re-set power up procedures. The only trick that seems to do anything is holding pwr. and volume down buttons on the tv and then plugging in the pwr. cord. After a few seconds I get a steady green status light but nothing happens after that. This is regardless of whether the usb with the update file is plugged in or not, before or after the green light.

It appears that the main board is now dead. I have no standby voltage(3.3V) and all 12V sources now show 24V. I waited a very long time after the usb update stopped responding before I tried powering up the tv again so I don't think that I caused the failure, hopefully.

Is there any way to bring the main board back to life now or is it doa?

The new t-con brd. fixed my tv. After installing it I had a picture and all functionality. The only problem I noticed was that the status light at the bottom was flashing green and orange in an alternating pattern. After doing a bit of research the flashing lights indicated incompatibility between the new t-con and the main brd. The way to fix it was to do a usb update which I did. The tv recognized the usb and started doing the update. After a few re-boots the tv shut down and did not come back on. I left things the way they were for a couple of hours but the tv never re-booted. Now it doesn't want to power up at all. I tried several different re-sets that I found online but none seemed to do anything except when I tried holding down the power and volume down buttons at the same time and then plugging in the pwr. cord. That generated a solid green light but nothing happened after that.

Where did I go wrong? What can I do now to get things back up and running?

So it sounds like the emmc/nand on the mb is most likely what's causing the problem. I started doing some searching for a replacement mb but my jaw dropped when I saw some of the prices. I bought the set for $15 so I have a little wiggle room but didn't want to put $100 plus into it. Sounds like if I do find another mb I'll also have to figure out how to pair it to the tv. I've never had to do that with any sets I've worked on before but this is my first Sony.

I watched a video on YouTube where a guy with a Sony that was having very similar issues was able to fix his with a new t-con board. I may try that first because that board is a lot cheaper

read it over closely, the symptoms vary but include your symptoms and both backlight and no backlight and other various symptoms.

I've been suspecting a problem with the main board just by the way my set is acting. But unlike the problem in the thread you referenced I do have backlights but nothing other than an irregular blue screen. The only sound I get is the spa/new wave music which I'm guessing is from the start screen. What the OP of this thread describes is almost exactly what I'm dealing with. I've tried all of the re-set procedures that were posted earlier in this thread with no results. Not sure what to do next.

can't guarantee its the problem, but I was suspecting my nand chip, then a very knowledgeable member told me he's done a lot of them.

eeprom, nand, spi-flash, its memory, somehow the braintrust that makes these tvs has decided that this nand chip should only last for just a certain amount of functioning before it is all used up, its pure BS, I don't think all the makers are doing it but sony sure is.

guess the nand has reached its "end of life" I have one of these crap tvs also, not investing any more in it tho. guess they want about 50 bucks for a programmed nand, then it needs to be soldered on the board.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I have a XBR-49X900F that is having similar issues. It powers up but only displays an irregular blue screen and plays the "spa" music that someone described. Cannot see any images on the screen. Backlights seem to be working. I cannot change inputs or get any sound other than the spa/new age music.

Did anyone that was having this no 12v at tcon fuse try a replacement mainboard? I managed to kill mine but it may have already been bad, not sure.

Unrelated to this thread, I have a different 55" SONY XBR-55X850C that blinks green/yellow as soon as it is plugged in because the TCON isn't getting 12V from the power supply. I accidentally shorted something and lost TCON 12V (which is separate than the 12V supplied to the mainboard on that tv).
Yes, I have this same issue, Diah helped me get 12 volts to the tcon bypassing the mainboard signal and getting it straight from the powerboard, that's the only way I could get it, but there wasn't any change in display or anything still just the spa music, no backlight, no image with torch, on page 8 of my thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...=102548&page=8

If you can't get the color pattern test, then it would mean something is probably wrong with the T-con or panel provided you are getting the 12v to your T-con. Are you getting the 12V to your T-con?
Maybe try another T-con. I know it sounds dumb but you are trusting someone else's work and parts. So to rule out any mistakes on their end I would say get a new T-con from a reliable source. If that doesn't do it then it's possible although rare that you have a bad panel.
Have you looked at the surface mount components on the address boards to see if there are any shorted caps or anything like that?
Also, you do get your backlight to turn on right?

something else that you can do with these TV sets is disconnect the ribbons from the mainboard going to the T-con board. This should trigger the color pattern test. In doing so you can either confirm the mainboard is the issue or rule it out.

If the color pattern test shows up then the T-con, panel, power, LEDs are fine. If the color pattern test doesn't show up at least you can rule out the mainboard as being the fault.
    Hi Nick:

When I disconnect the ribbons between the mainboard to the TCON, there is no change. Not even a flicker. No color pattern.

I think the main TCON and the spare TCON I have are both bad, possibly.

Just seems strange that the TV will turn on and off and play relaxing music. For that reason I don't suspect mainboard, but these android sony TVs are strange animals.

    Any other advice?

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
    by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
    by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Sony HCD-HX80R Amplifier Volume Control Problem
    by crackedprint
I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...

Would a moving screen saver confirm that the panel is ok or it could still be a panel issue ?
