That pen is for probing for active AC for electrician, not going to be use for trouble shooting the TV.
I hope you get the user manual for that meter, it looks like it is made for Electrician.
    Please read the manual.

Hy bud.. ok so my super gave me his sperry mulitmeter. He also gave me a "pen" to check for other measurements. I assume the pen will be used to check the led strips. Let me know if both these devices will suffice and how to start fixing my tv.. thanks bud.

Btw I'm trying to get that multimeter.

Also if its an led strip issue and I buy led strips, do I have to solder them onto the tv?
    1) We cannot tell anything until we do some measurement first.
    2) If it is bad LED strips, then you will need to dissemble the LCD panel to get to the LED strips. Are good at mechanical assembly/disassembly? This is large panel so a very good chance of breaking it if you have no experience.

Hi budm. I have a friend who might have a multimeter. If I do get it, will you help me test which components to zero in on on my tv?

Hi budman. I havent done any voltage testing since I'm not versed in that field of electronics. What do you suggest?

The screen is dark but you can still make out the menu if you look hard enough. It's a backlight issue to my knowledge.

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

    Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
    - sound and backlight, but no picture
    - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
    - it keeps rebooting
    - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
    - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

iMac PowerPC G4 very low sound • Sunflower Model
    by nickgronk
Just picked up an iMac powerpc for $1 at auction. changed pram. This is working. Problem, barely any sound. I have everything cranked up in software, reset nvram/pram - nada. I do get sound ONLY if I plug in a powered speakers in headphone port. I do not get the startup bong.
I get almost no sound with normal headphones. I mean, you can barely hear it. Took the board out and by eye found these 2 inductors broken. Not sure if they are for sound. Speaker is also plugged in and I tried a normal pc speaker in its place - still zilch. Are these inductors the culprit?
    I cannot find any schematics...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
    by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and
