    JVC AV-27750 IR Sensor Problem

In addition to 2 flat-screen TVs, I own a 27" CRT (reliable!) TV (JVC AV-27750), connected to a Converter Box. A few days ago, its IR sensor stopped working. It does not respond to any button of the Remote Control. The remote control works fine (I can see it flashing through a cell phone's camera), and a capacitor and a resistor near the IR sensor have the correct values. I desoldered and removed the IR sensor from the small Front Control CB. It has a metal cover -- please, photos. It has two numbers on the metal cover: HC-337M (which the Service Manual identifies as the part number and) 33N643.

1st Question: Does anybody know where I can buy a replacement IR sensor? I have searched for a long time and found nothing.

Also, as I look at the TV standing in front of it, the 3 pins of the IR sensor are identified and labeled in the Service Manual, form left to right, as follows:

Pin 2 (the leftmost pin): Out 4.2V
Pin 1 (the middle pin) : Vcc 4.9V
Pin 3 (the rightmost pin): GND

2nd Question: Is the above pin information useful for somebody to help me find a compatible replacement IR sensor, if the OEM is no longer available?

3rd Question: Does anybody know at which frequency this IR sensor (and, of course, the Remote Control itself, RM-C742) operate?

    Additional Information:

    1. Before removing the small front control board, on which the IR sensor is also mounted, and while the TV was plugged in an AC outlet, I measured the voltage between pins 1 - 3 and I found 5.0V. So, the IR sensor receives power.

    2. The part # of the entire Front Control CB is: SGK-4011A-M2. I cannot find this part either.

Did you look at the output pin with the scope?
    Spec of similar HC series.

Thank you, budm, for the fast and informative reply. I cannot understand all the information in the pdf file (I am a beginner), but the HC-337M is there! The data sheet lists its frequency as being 37.9 kHz. Does anybody sell this IR sensor?

In response to your question, I do not have an oscilloscope to look at the output pin. Before removing the Front Control CB, on which the IR sensor resides, I tried to measure the output voltage with a DMM while the TV was on, but I heard scary click-click sounds, as if I was causing a short somewhere! I stopped immediately. From the fact that the TV was still working after that, except for the IR sensor not responding to the Remote Control, it appears that I did not cause a new problem. But that scared me enough not to try anything else.

Just an idea: Does anybody know, if I were able to find an IR sensor that operates at the same frequency as the one of my TV and has the same Vcc and Vout voltages, would I be able to use it without the tiny CB and metal housing of the original IR sensor (shown in photos posted earlier)?
