Re: Kdl-70w830b sim in middle of picture after backlight repair
Still curious about this... I have a Samsung UN55F8000 (that has never been apart) that has the same issue. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the diffuser sheets can get old or distorted and not transfer light the way they originally did? In my case it's possibly due to age, in the case of this thread it is possibly from bending?
Other long-shot... jeffer76, Did your diffuser spend any time in direct sunlight while the TV was disassembled? I'm wondering if the TV I have (I have no history on it) spend time in the direct sunlight which changed the property of the diffuser sheet.Last edited by jjanssen7; 02-12-2020, 03:59 AM.Comment

Bow in the sheet or incorrectly positioned sheet. Last time I saw something like this, it turned out there is a slight angle of entry for the leds into the edge of the sheet. The light doesn't seem to bounce it's way through the sheet like it should. The sheet was slightly off centre and it was pressing hard on the leds.
If you can place the sheets flat on a desk, shine a led torch into the edge and see if you still get the same darker area in the middle. You'll have to do this with the lights turned down because a led torch isn't as strong (normally). I use one of those powerful cree torches for this job when I'm trying to clear water marks (yes you can clean these out). Worst thing to do is to crease the sheet when moving them around, the sheet becomes a throwaway. I keep sheets and leds from busted screens as replacements, takes a while to get them out neatly. Doesn't take much room to stack lots (like those poster racks at a cinema with supporting cardboard between them).Comment

Re: Kdl-70w830b sim in middle of picture after backlight repair
I have the same issue with a kdl-70w840 tv but it had a BL error blink code so i bypassed it and had bright edges like you. I replaced lights with new strips and no improvement. I replaced the LED driver board with no improvement. Unplugged Tcon and no improvement in LED output. So power supply or mainboard error is the culprit. Did you happen to solve your problem? @jeffer76Last edited by Pooshoes; 09-26-2023, 08:09 AM.Comment

Looks like a lot was tried, thinking it must be how the sheets are going back in, everything needs proper spacing, if there was standoffs, they need to be put back.Comment

by burbutsalosHello everyone.
I have this TV set which has this issue. It shows a vertical bar im the middle of the screen.
The panel has 12 cofs and the problem seems to be on the territory of the first cof on the right side.
The tv fires up and you can see a good picture exept that vertical part where multicoloured pixels exist.
The strange thing there is that you can see behind that snow that it shows picture but as if there are these pixels in front so you cannot see clearly.
The effect is there even on a completely black screen.
The screen... -
by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -
by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered... -
by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... - Loading...
