I'm sorry for making a second thread but it seems like my first one died. To recap, LEDs are working and t con has been replaced but still no picture. Power to the mainboard is on point. This is my first time repairing a TV like this and I'd love to know how to fully test and diagnose the issue accurately. Thank you. My multimeter and I are standing by.

Re: LG 50uh5500 no picture
New threads about same tv just clutters up the boards, all you need to do is bump your thread, that way what has been discussed and tried already is not lost, plus you probably won't get too many responses because it's a no no.Last edited by nomoresonys; 10-27-2019, 09:56 AM. -
Re: LG 50uh5500 no picture
Your TV has bad Backlights. You would need to open up the Panel and carefully remove the very fragile glass screen. Replace ALL the Backlights strips though not all would be defective but it is good practice to replace all as you would not want repeated failure to have to open up the Panel innumerable times risking breaking the fragile glass Screen. The LED Strips would be in pairs and would have a Part No. for left and right pairs. A 50 inch TV like yours may have five pairs probably with 8LEDs on one side and 7 LEDs on the other. Good Luck.Comment

Re: LG 50uh5500 no picture
Previous thread said he replaced all the backlights and now has backlight but no picture and replaced tcon already. Probably damaged something in the process. Try powering on the tv with only one side of ribbons to the panel connected at a time. If one side has an image, then main board is good and there is damage to the panel.Comment

Re: LG 50uh5500 no picture
Okay so when both ribbons are plugged in, there's no visual display it's just the back lights. When I plug them in one at a time, the display shows up each time but one connection has a clear image on half the screen and the other connection shows a distorted image on the screen with a lot of vertical lines.Comment

Re: LG 50uh5500 no picture
Update: after that ribbon test, somehow it turns on now. This is the most working I've ever seen this TV and it's really close to usable at this point. There is a horizontal line going all the way across the TV I'm not really too concerned about that unless there is a cheap and easy fix for it. It's only one single line and the rest of the image is there. The only current issue seems to be that the right side of the screen is distorted with what I would describe as an image burn issue. Everything on the right side of the screen is darker and the colors are a little bit distorted more towards the darker end of the spectrum and Frames don't disappear as quickly as they supposed to.
I have tried swapping ribbon cables and it was still the same issue and I also tried swapping the t-con boards and it actually worked but it's still the same issue.Comment

Re: LG 50uh5500 no picture
From description seems like a panel issue, could try the "cut tape" method, may have to adjust tape width, works quite often: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7vl7-vZEL8Comment

by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -
by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered... -
by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by CyberPhoenixHello, Last week I bought the 50" Sony X80j tv everything was working fine, untill I plugged the tv in a ups power supply 650va the tv remote control became unresponsive and the TV became laggy after a while the picture quality isn't the same as before the tv seems less brighter and the picture is somehow blurry, people's faces don't look as natural as before, there is a mini orange-pink tint to the edge of people's faces especially in NETFLIX Dolby Vision like in One Piece ep1 Alvida skin tone, my intention was to protect the tv but something went wrong I checked the ups with a multimeter,...
