LG 55G2-UG Distorted Picture w/ Shifting Pixels

Trying to get my parent's TV fixed. It boots up to a completely green screen with a one-inch vertical black band on each side. Then it will show a very distorted picture and the pixels will shift horizontally back and forth constantly.

Here are pictures of the TV

Every 10 seconds or so, the picture will go black and then pop back to the distorted green.

I've unplugged each half of the T-Con and results stay the same. Where do I begin to figure if this is a T-Con issue, a main board issue, or simply a failed panel? From what I've read, horizontal lines are usually more failed panel than failed T-Con, but hopefully that is not the case.

Appreciate any help, this forum looks like it's full of very smart people!

Attached, I used IMGUR because the attachment uploader flipped all the pics vertically for some reason

Yes from what they told me, it just started like this one morning.

Clean your ribbon connectors carefully, can use IPA alcohol, some use a pencil eraser, see if it clears up.

I cleaned all ends of the ribbon connectors, no change.

Attached are pictures with each side of the LVDS unplugged. One side shows the same green/glitchy picture and the other will show vertical lines.

The right side looks like it would be an issue with the T-Con from what I've seen, but I'm not sure why it would change messed up images based on which side was plugged in.

Maybe also try cleaning the lvds cable end going to tcon. It does look like several displays I've seen with bad tcon, think I would try a tcon if not too expensive, there's usually test points on the tcon but it can be a little complicated if they are not clearly marked. Sometimes you can detect a panel defect by testing the little capacitors on the tcon for shorts, one easy way is set meter to diode put probe at each end of capacitor if it beeps it's shorted, that's if your meter has beep function. Can also test in ohm mode 000 is shorted. Diode and ohm mode checking is ALWAYS done with tv UNPLUGGED from power, can check by touching probes together and see if it beeps, then unplug ribbon connectors going to panel and see if it still reads short.

always my recommendation at LG first to make hard reset via command ( IN_STOP) this will roll back all driver to factory state to be sure we don't have issue with FW. this distributed Picture could happen by LG 3D sets. as its clock the normal signal to 3D ( MONO 2D to 3D) Freg 120Hz as we can see no blue color. so first try in_stop. search here we did uploaded apk and method of this command

It looks like there is a small blemish/bubble thing in the cable running from the T-Con to the Main Board. I'm assuming that I can't remove the cable from the connector to try cleaning the top side.

Unfortunately I don't have any way of resetting via IR, is there any other way of resetting to factory firmware?

In_STOP only via IR or android apk with mobile had IR or DIY with wave file.. all listed on this forum.

BTW. don't play with LVDS to take the cable out from it socket.. you will lost.

I do see the bubble, maybe you just need a new lvds cable, lots of times when you have a green screen it has to do with a bad/dirty connection, you may have found the problem. It's probably made right on there, taking it apart will most likely destroy it, grab a replacement if you can find one.

                                Hi,
                                I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
                                Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.

If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and...

I have a Samsung UN55TU700DFXZA with a distorted picture and I thought it was a bad panel. I had a similar board with one number off and still tried it to see what the issue could be. The picture came out clear with only missing blue hue I think. I found a replacement board for $30 but wanted to learn if this would be the main IC or possibly something else. I don't have service manual so looking to learn about these cheap sets....

all voltages from PS are good 12v 3.3v and 5v

whats odd is that at the tcon i tested voltage across the fuse on the tcon and i get 0v

i disconnect the panel ribbon cables to rule out any panel issues and i still have no 12v at the tcon fuse

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...
