Sony Bravia KDL 46EX520 Faulty T-con board or LCD panel -- Horizontal lines

    Hello,

Yesterday, horizontal lines appeared on my television and I am unsure whether the problem lies with the T-con board or LCD panel.

I have removed the back housing and visually there are no obvious electronic issues. I then removed one of the ribbon cables from the T-con board, which resulted in blacking out half of the screen and the other half appeared normal (ie problem resolved - no distortion). I replaced the ribbon and then removed the second ribbon and there were horizontal lines across the entire screen.
    I have attached several photos.

Any advice or other checks would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

the last two picture show vertical lines... those are usually not good as there is likely a problem with the panel near that area. You can check the tabs in and near the area. Is the panel on this set connected to a small edge board at the bottom or top? You might get lucky by carefully checking the edge board for a component failure (resistor or capacity). The corner area also drives the side of the panel which is the reason that you see the lines in the second picture.

If no luck finding/fixing fault, the "cutoff tape" method might get you a good image.

        Thanks for your responses.
The edge board is on the bottom and seems quite hard to get to. I will check the panel tabs tonight.

If it sounds like it might be a panel problem it looks like i will be needing a new TV.

I dont know what the "cutoff" tape method is.

        Thanks again.

Not much to it, may have to play with the width of the tape to get it right, might work might not: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7vl7-vZEL8

Sony XBR-65X750D Horizontal lines bottom of screen
            by ggil44
Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
            by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Sony KDL-50W685A horizontal black lines Pattern
            by Raulnn
good morning! I have a problem with this Sony. The image has a pattern of black horizontal lines, I attach a photo of the lines. The power supply is external and emits a sound. I don't think it's because of that. Let's see if someone can help me.

Sony XBR65X900H TV with Horizontal Lines right half of screen
            by dvu0627
I have a Sony Smart TV XBR65X900H that started to have horizontal lines on the right side of the screen (see attached picture). When I played video on Youtube green horizontal line at regular intervals(1/4") across the screen.
I replaced the T-Con board but the lines are still there.
I believe this issue is from the Main Board. Before I replace the Main board, I wanted to seek advise if this is the problem from the Main board or something else?
            Thank you for the help....

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
            by Daren87
            Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...
