    LG 49UH6030 4k TV with 1" Grey bar in the middle

    Hi folks,
    I picked up a 49" 4k TV that is in good shape, great pic, but has a grey'ish bar in the center. Only things I've tried:
    1. Disconnect one ribbon cable from TCON to Panel. 1/2 screen is white and half black, no bar
    2. Disconnect the other ribbon cable (and reconnect the first), black bars on one half of the screen and grey bar is present.
    3. Disconnect both ribbon cables, nothing on the screen (no bar)
    4. Reconnect ribbon cables, and disconnect LVDS to main board - no bar

    I reviewed the Sony TCON troubleshooting manual, and this doesn't fall under any of the cases, so I'm not sure what could be the problem. TCON, or panel. Your help is appreciated.

      its to me Tap pond, inspect first the TAP components id there any damage, also on the TAP there are 2 small ribbon connector reset them if it had

          So applying pressure on tabs / moving them, doesn't seem to have any effect like others I've seen. Components don't show any damage, visibly. Any chance it's Tcon?

              What is the history of the TV?
              This TV uses LCD panel with the tab bonding board on the bottom edge of the scree, they get damaged if some one spray cleaner on the screen so the liquid gets to the board. Do good visual inspection to see if you can see any corrosion.

                  not t-con... then inspect the panel from top side or down side u may had small broken on lcd film

                      Hi budm,
                      No known history - I bought it for $10. Owner said the bar showed up one day.
                      TV is ultra clean and no visible damage or corrosion on bottom boards / tabs.

                          Hi,

                          i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
                          Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
                          If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
                          Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
                          With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

                          Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
                          Or is it always a bad/shorted...

                          Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection.                           Hello all ~

                          Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

                          When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

                          I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

                          TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?

                          Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...
